I know this makes me sound like a campaigner for goodness and goodwill. But why am I here? "I don't know where I got my voice from, although I had a great uncle who was a baritone. But you have to look beyond it and see what you're responsibilities are." His new single is a cover version of Light My Fire which is out this week. | 28th - Will Young changes his opinion of Simon Cowell Will Young says his opinion of Simon Cowell changed after their heated exchange on Pop Idol. He says Cowell played his role in the show "very well". Will thinks his subsequent chart success may have hinged on their infamous row. But Will says Cowell was initially very rude. The revelations are made in a new book to published next month based on his Pop Idol diary. The singer told OK!: "I guess my initial view of him changed after we had that infamous row. I'd sung Light My Fire and he didn't like it and called it 'distinctly average'. He apologised to me the next week in front of millions of people and he didn't have to do that. That meant a lot to me. "Now he is no longer a judge - he's a businessman and I'm a singer on his record label. I think he had a role to play in the show and he played it very well. Although his comments were cutting, he always told the truth. "If it wasn't for him and I hadn't answered back, who knows what would have happened?" Anything Is Possible by Will Young is published by Contender Books on June 1. Taken from Ananova |

| 28th - Will Young single expected to debut at the top spot Will Young's new single should debut at the top of the charts this Sunday, according to an HMV spokesman. His cover of The Doors' Light My Fire should displace Eminem's Without Me. Ant and Dec's official World Cup anthem We're On The Ball is expected to enter the charts at number three. The Sex Pistols re-released God Save the Queen should also be a contender for the top 10 in this Jubilee week. HMV 's chart expert Gennaro Castaldo told BBC News this was a "potentially huge week for the singles chart". He added: "Our confident expectation is that Will Young will sell around 200,000 singles to comfortably go straight in at number one and take over from Eminem. "Ant and Dec's We're on the Ball should make the top three, and of the other football releases DJ Otzi's re-release of Hey Baby probably has the best chance of chart success. "The Sex Pistols re-release of God Save the Queen will be difficult to call given nobody really knows who their fanbase is likely to be - it might just sneak into the top 10." Taken from Ananova. |
