Hidden Emotions

"Tal?" Laura screamed, as she ran into the coffee shop, "Tal...are you...?" She was greated by his ice blue eyes, staring at her in confusion. And that's when she felt an unwanted jab in the pit of her stomach, as if someone had stabbed her with a knife.

"Am I what?" he snapped, "And why do you look like you've gone from hell and back."

"Because I have," she cried, "Tal, I need to talk to you...and, and it's really urgent." Laura sat down in front of him, her once sparkling revengeful eyes turned to those covered in fear.

Tal could sense her fear, and leanded across the table more so that she didn't have to talk quite as loud. "What the hell happened?" he muttered, "what the hell did you do?"

"I.." she started, but her voiced choked and she began to sob. "Tally, I killed her."

"What?" he snapped, grabbing onto her arm and pulling it sharply so that she was leaning over the table, their faces no more than two inches apart. "What the fuck is going on?" he demanded.

"I was so angry, Tal. I was just overwhelmed with all of this hate, all of this envy. All I ever wanted to do was be with Gil. I've always wanted to be with him and I screwed it up," she sobbed, "I decided to get jelouse over a simple little i love you, and what the fuck, I knew all along that he loved Brooke, they were like...siblings."

Tal's eyes grew wide and he hollered, "If you fucking did anything to Brooke, I will..."

She cut him off, "I had no reason to hurt her. Yet, I thought I had a reason to hurt her best friend, I thought I had the greatest reason in the world. Lindsi came waltzing back into town and everything I've worked for was torn to pieces. My friendship with Brooke, my progressing relationship with Gil and of course, every other aspect of my life. She stold everything I've ever wanted."

"Not only did she steal everything I've wanted," Laura muttered, "But she also made me feel worthless. Right down to where I didn't feel the need to want to live anymore. No, I wasn't suicidal, I was just...well, depressed. I didn't want to sleep and go to work, I didn't want to watch television, all I wanted to do was cry. So, I thought by punishing her, I'd feel better."

Tal opened his mouth to say something, yet nothing came out. He was a little taken back on how someone could suddenly be so enraged. Lindsi had only been back for less than twenty-four hours and Laura had made it sound as if she's been there for months destorying everything. It all seemed like it was happening too quickly.

"She comes back, and boom. I'm just so pissed," she continued, "I came here after work, and you told me that Gil was at Lindsi's. So I figured, why not just go over there and tell them exactly how I feel...right? Talking always helps release stress. I got there and that's when I saw them hugging...and then the smile that Gil had plastered across his face as he walked back to the car."

"He looked as if, the world would never end, as if it went on forever. As if she could give him something I couldn't," Laura sneered, "So I got so angry and did something I never wanted to. I took the window scraper, and I...I beat her down till she wasn't moving and ran. Leaving her for the dead..."

Shoving her back against the booth, Tal quickly stood up and ran over to the pay phone. Tossing a few cents into the slot, he dialed his home phone. He just wished it wasn't too late.
