| homepage | Work Chapter Ten I know your thinking Why talk about work? heres why we all do it eventually, just some really, really like sitting on their asses. Think about it , we spend all day working , praying a new one will come along soon, hoping that our lives will have self-worth, but do we ever get to that point? Do we ever get to the point where we say I love the job I have , it pays great money not normal people, uh , uh, we work dead end jobs trying to find the perfect one, you end up working at burger king, McDonalds, Wendys, Arbys, A&W, being a telemarketer, waitress, waiter, busboy , chauffer, teacher, janitor , bartender, pizza man, delivery man, snow shoveler , working for the city, numerous jobs in hopes one will pay off good money. But why do we really work? So we can acquire things, to get things to decorate the house we live in, to create a better environment. The only reason we do this is because we have nothing better to do with our time sometimes. Sometimes acquiring things for the house we live in is the only thing we can do, and the things we buy end up owning us, we spend so much on all that stuff that it owns us, everything matches, everything is dull , there is no spunk what so ever. We just live to acquire things, nothing more, then our hope becomes to find something else to acquire for the living room or the dinning room or the basement, even though no one is going to see the basement it still has to look great. All we are is consumers , all we do is buy things and more things and more things until we run out of room for those things and then we need a bigger house, all the great stuff youve acquired has to be seen so you get a bigger house, there is lots of room , room for more stuff that is. So you go and you buy more, the house is starting to look empty now that youve moved, so you get more things and more things, then you need a new job to pay for the house so you find one that pays a bit more, your seeing that your house is still very empty and once again you acquire more things. All we do is live to shop, live to get a bigger house, live to make our lives better and our home life more comfortable. What kind of life is this to just gather more things and move until all of the things you think you need can fit? If your not acquiring things for your house your buying new cloths and god knows you can never have enough of those now can ya? Your paying about $80. for a new shirt, $90. for pants, $120. for a new pair of shoes to match the cloths you just bought, so your spending over $300. for cloths you are probably going to wear for a few months and then decide you do not like them anymore. Your closet if full, your dressers are full. You have finally run out of places to put the cloths mind you the closet where your shoes once all fit no longer have enough space. Life is all just about aquiring objects to make your once lovely life very pitiful, you no longer have any idea what else to do because you are committed so much on just getting stuff that you do not care about anything else around you which makes your life even more pitiful, but this is life, this is what we do 24/7,365. |
