| "Who's Rich?" JC asked once Megan was gone. "New guy," Kara muttered walking into the living room. JC silently followed right behind her. She plopped down on the couch, picked up the remote, and started channel surfing. JC slowly sat down next to her. "Hey, wanna go out to lunch?" "Just had breakfast," she said bluntly. "Sure?" Kara turned her head and looked JC straight in the eye. "JC, I'm sure." JC, a little startled from Kara's attitude, jumped and stood up. "Anything wrong?" he asked, although he knew the answer to the question. Kara always got like this when anything that reminded her of Justin came up. And he was sure he didn't make it any better, having been one of Justin's best friends. Kara looked up at JC trying to hold back the tears that were about to explode out like an overfull dam. She shook her head. "No," she sniffled. "Nothing's wrong. Allergies." JC pushed away a few strands of hair and put his hand on her cheek. She moved it away. "Are you positively, absolutely, super-duper sure?" JC kidded. He was about to say that you don't get allergies in the summer in Hawaii, but he knew that would probably make it worse. Kara smiled and felt JC's comfort wash away some tears. "Yes JC, I'm absolutely, positively, super-duper sure." She stood up. "And I'm tired so..." Kara pushed him to the door. "This is the door. Go through it. I'll see ya in the morning." She pushed him out. "Love ya. Chow babe." She blew him a kiss and closed the door. As she turned to go back to her room, Kara didn't feel as tired as she said she was. Just lonely. JC stood at the doorstep staring at teh door. Even though it's been awhile since Justin dided, he understood that Kara would still be emotional about him. Maybe it wasn't the greatest idea to stop by. "Uh, JC? You may wanna be inside when you're talking to Kara," a voice said from behind him. He turned around to see a confused looking Megan. "I left my wallet in my other purse," she explained. Megan unlocked the door and her and JC walked in. Megan ran to her room and quickly got her wallet. Megan was about to let her and JC out but she noticed the blank look on JC's face. "What's wrong?" She asked. "Nothing. Nothing's wrong with me. I just wanna know what's wrong with Kara," he responded. Megan looked around as if she expected Kara to jump out and yell at her for teling JC what happened. "Do you remember right after the funeral, Kara practically had a nervous breakdown?" He nodded intenly. "Well, she seems to be going through this again." JC looked down. "Kara just builds it all up and then explods," he whispered. "Justin was the only one who could stop that." Megan sniffed. "Yeah I know." She perked up. "Or she just might be lonely." JC put a fake happy face on. "I bet that's it. I met this guy at the hotel and he's exactly Kara's type." Megan wasn't as close to JC as Kara was but she could see through his act. His happy face wasn't exactly very truthful. But neither was hers. She could also tell when JC was being sincere, and now he was. "Well, us matchmakers are gonna have to set up a little blind date, then." "I guess we're going to have to." "What's his name?" Megan asked. "Marc. Marc Williams." "Ok, then. Marc and Kara are gonna have to work this out." JC smiled. -Yeah- he thought. -I hope they do.- Chapter 3 Chapter 5 |
