"I need your help, Em." Kristy spoke, quietly. "I want to take up the offer you gave me. I don't want to look like this anymore." She said.
Emily knew that earlier she talked some sense into Kristy. "Right. Then we need to get started as soon as we can, huh?"
Kristy only nodded.
"First thing we need to fix is your hair. It's hidious." She dragged her younger sister by the hand up to their bathroom and pulled out a straightener. She handed it to Kristy before speaking, "Keep it. It's yours."
Kristy nodded again. "What do I do with it?"
Emily plugged the object into the wall and waited. "It takes a few minutes to heat up. It's worth the wait though."
"What else do we have to do?"
Emily pulled out a piece of paper in her pocket and smiled. "I knew you would need my help, so during class, I came up with a few ideas. I know you won't like most of them, but they'll only make your appearance strong and beautiful."
She handed Kristy the list to look over. It read:
1. Get that ugly hair fixed up. Straighten it and rejuvinate it, dear sister of mine. It's ugly and it makes you look ugly. Get a cut for once in your life.
2. Pluck your eyebrows. At least do something with your eyebrows. They look like they're meant to be on a man.
3. Shave your legs for once. I know you probably don't even know what shaving is, but you better learn quickly before you get out of control.
4. Buy makeup at the store. It wouldn't hurt to wear makeup, even though I'm sure you don't need too much. If you don't have the money, I can give you some of my makeup.
5. Get a new wardrobe. You dress like a freak. What size are you? I'll make sure and buy you clothes next time I go shopping, which will probably be sometime later today.
6. Start talking like regular teenagers. None of those smart words that you use. Make yourself, like, seem, like, stupid like the rest of us. You need to fit the norm of popular kids. Don't act smart because we don't like smart people.
The list continued on. Kristy didn't feel like reading the rest. They were all, basically, making her feel like the ugliest creature on the planet.
Kristy sighed. This was going to be the longest process in the world. "Is that thing ready yet?" She asked, pointing to the straightener.
Emily laughed. "Don't call this a thing, sister dearest. This is more than a thing. Girls lives depend on these." She felt the ceramic part of it and smiled, "It's hot."
Kristy took a step back. "Give me a reason to trust that you wouldn't burn me."
Emily took a step forward, trapping Kristy in the corner. "You should trust me because I've worked with things like this all my life."
She put it up to Kristy's bushy and curly hair. "Here, you need to learn how to work this." She placed it into Kristy's hands. "Use it like an iron or whatever. Take a strand of hair and trap it in the ceramic part of it or whatever works for you. Then drag the straightener all the way down until the hair is out. See?" She guided Kristy's hands.
Kristy was now positive Emily couldn't give directions worth shit. "Yeah, sure."
They continued on doing all her hair until it was as straight as they could get it. She looked in the mirror, not believing what she saw.
Her sister was the one to speak first. "Wow, Kristy. You look great!" She placed her hand in Kristy's smooth hair. "Look at that! You're one step closer, hunny."
She pulled out some tweezers from the cabinet. "This is the best part!" Emily spoke, excitedly.
"What's the best part?" Kristy asked, nervously.
"Getting to pluck your eyebrows is the best part! I always shape people's eyebrows. Its fun and I like to see them in pain." She joked, placing the tweezers up to her eyebrows. "Think of happy thoughts right now." Emily spoke, evilly.
Kristy's mind wandered to Justin. Until-
"Ouch!" She screamed in pain. Her left eye watered uncontrollably.
"This is so much fun!" Emily said, happily.
She poked at her face again and again, until her eyebrows were barely even there.
"The perfect shape, Kris. I made your eyebrows look better than decent."
Kristy cleared her throat, "I guess you're a miracle worker, huh?"
"No, I'm just doing my job. I can't help being such a good sister."
Emily placed a hand on Kristy's cheek for less than one brief second. "You are gorgeous, Kris. You just didn't know that when you were hiding behind those hidious glasses and frizzy hair."
"Thanks, Emily." By this time, she was blushing. Who knew her sister could be so sweet? "What's next for me? Is there anything else that includes pain?"
Emily shrugged. "Not really, but you need makeup." She pulled out a large box from the cabinets under the sink. "This, my dear, is now yours."
Kristy opened the box. It was filled with different shades of eyeshadow, lip glosses, and blush. Most were barely used, and the rest were yet to be opened. "Wow."
"I knew someday I would come around to you. I've saved this up for you, I think. Well, not really, but I don't need it. Most of them weren't my colors."
Kristy giggled. She was happy and nobody could take that away from her.
"Next step is clothes." She pulled Kristy up and dragged her into Emily's room. "You dress like such a freak. I'm going to change that."
She picked out a few cute tops from her closet. Most her clothes still had price tags on them.
"Em, I can't fit into your clothes. You're tiny!" Kristy stated.
"That is exactly my point."
"No way in hell, Emily."
Emily groaned, throwing a shirt to Kristy. "You need to show off what you've got. Trust me, it's not that bad. Here's another one," she spoke, throwing a turtleneck over.
Emily had now given half her closet to her. Kristy carried clothes over to her room next door. Emily followed her in.
"Let's look at your closet, baby dawl." She walked over to the closet before emptying it out and placing the clothes on the ground. She picked a few up and brought them over to Kristy's desk. "You have scissors, right?" She asked, ever so sweetly.
"Those are my clothes, Em. You can't just do that!" She whined. "What if I went into your room and ripped all your clothes and ruined your wardrobe?"
"It wouldn't matter." Emily said, simply. "I would just get a new one. It's not that hard."
"Whatever." Kristy spoke, grumpily.
"What are you doing this weekend?" Emily asked, curiously.
"Em, it's Tuesday. I don't think I need to know what I'm doing on Friday."
Emily rolled her eyes. "Yeah, that's what you think."
"Yeah, that is what I think."
"Come to Justin Timberlake's party with me. We can get ready together and everything. It'll be fun."
She wanted to scream with joy, but she was sure not to make it obvious. "What are you going to do there?"
Emily giggled. "Don't worry about anything. You will have so much fun, Kris."
