Kristys sister rushed her out of bed at around five that morning. She didnt really understand why, but she didnt understand her sister at all.
Were going to be late. She stated, taking another bite out of the apple in one hand, while grabbing the car keys in her other hand. Hurry, Kristy!
Kristy grumbled, adjusting her glasses on her nose. Emily, I hate to break it to you, but we arent going to be late. She looked her sister square in the eye. Its six thirty and Im pretty sure that school doesnt start until eight. What is wrong with you today? She put on her socks, ever so slowly.
Emily rolled her eyes, and pulled her blonde hair into a ponytail. Today, my poor sister, they announce who won for homecoming princess. She jumped up, giddily. Today, I will officially be announced as homecoming princess.
Kristy sighed. And how do you know that?
Emily gasped. She shouldnt have bothered asking. Because, dearest, who in the junior class is prettier and nicer than me?
It was official. Kristy lived with the biggest drama queen in the world. Well, I wouldnt have voted for you.
Her sister nodded. Its not like your vote wouldve mattered anyways. She reapplied more mascara onto her eyelashes.
Her sister was now, not only the biggest drama queen in the world, but to add to that, the biggest bitch in the world. Lets just go Emily. Were gonna be late.
Its six-forty. Im pretty sure school starts at eight. She mimicked, placing blush on her cheeks, and fixing her hair for the hundredth time that morning. She took out the ponytail because she decided that she didnt want her hair creased for later on in the day.
Whatever.
Kristy put her seatbelt on when she reached the car. Her sister wasnt the safest driver to be in a car with. She wasnt a good driver at all.
Her sister smiled. Do you have a homecoming date yet?
She knew the answer. She just bothered to ask only to rub it in Kristys face.
Nope, not yet at least, She answered simply, Hopefully Ill be able to go with someone this year.
Unlike last year, Emily added. Well, as for me, Im pretty sure that I am getting asked this week. She continued, Its between Billy and Jake. Both of them are good candidates. Plus, they would crawl to my feet if I wanted.
Well, thats nice. Kristy said, dully.
Sister,
Kristy interrupted her. Why cant you call me by my name? Not sister. Does it look like I ever call you that?
Emily laughed it off. As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, sister, She smiled, evilly, If you wanted, I could find you a date. Any date you want to take that hasnt already asked somebody.
How can I trust you to get me any date I wanted? Kristy asked, skeptically.
Emily patted her on the shoulder. Babe, I know how to work magic. Not only magic, miracles, in your case at least.
No. Offer is declined. She spoke, finally. Truthfully, if I got a date, I would want to get him on my own. I wouldnt want to be hooked up by my own sister.
Emily pulled into the parking lot. It was now seven-twenty. People were starting to arrive.
Sweetheart, you could get any guy you ever wanted. She stated, overly confident. You just need to try and everything would come together. She placed her fingers in Kristys hair. See this bush? It needs to disappear. No more tangles. Thats the first step.
She then pointed over at Jamie, Kristys best friend. That, my dear, is the second step. She smiled, kindly. You need to, well, how should I put this? She continued when she found the words, Expand your horizon. She stated. No more of this thing you do.
What thing? Kristy asked, confused.
This thing, where youre all like Hey, I only have one friend at this school and Im happy with that thing. You know you arent happy with only having one friend. Hang out with my friends sometime.
Kristy rolled her eyes. I have more than one friend. She stated, confidently, And like I would actually hang out with you and your friends.
Yes you would, in your dreams, sister. Im offering you my help. Any girl at our school would want my help. Take it into consideration.
Emily exited the vehicle, and for a slight second, Kristy was taking it into consideration. She wanted everything that her sister had. She wanted to be popular, and she would do anything to get what she wanted, even if it meant getting help from her sister.
