Love and the River

"I left my love down the river,
And my love drowned away...
Submerged in its wetness
I cried the hurt away."

This is the song that fill my heart today,
Sitting down near my coffee table listening to the words on my radio.
Praying to God that what I see will disappear tommorow,
Feeling the persistent blows and cold drafts that couldn't follow me,
When I cry for the hurt to stop pulling me astray.

"Why live in agony," I say, "When love hasn't helped any man in any way?"
The agony they endure trying to rekindle a fire,
When the acquired amount of fuel has expired.
"What kind of love is this," I say "When someone uses your ignorance to show they're a head of the game?"
Taking advantage of the doctrine of the Lord.
One as I, cannot understand the reason of union,
When no man can benefit another,
When you show that one glass is filled more than the other.
This I believe is no blesses union.

I sat there and I said to the world bitterly,
"I think it better to leave your foolish love by the river
And let it drown away...
Let it absorb the bitter tears
That couldn't take the hurt away...."
