Where can I find a store open on Christmas?

Christmas morning was more hectic than Anastasia ever imagined with the triplets screaming “Santa” at 4 in the morning and Caitlin suffering from morning sickness it was a wonder Anne and Joe could still be asleep. Jessee was attempting to keep the kids under control, he was a great father, and tend to Caitlin who was presently hung over the toilet. Trying to be helpful Anastasia went in to the bathroom, “Caitlin, can I do anything?”

“Shoot me.”

Nick’s house was the total opposite Jane was making a delicious pancake breakfast and the kids sat around the tree handing out presents. Everything seemed to be picture perfect and everyone was happy, with the exception of Nick.

“Nicky!!! Where’s my gift?” Mandy asked batting her eyelashes

Nick pointed to under the tree to the small package that she picked out: a not so cheap diamond necklace. She scooped up the gift and made herself comfortable on his lap, “I wonder what this is?” she giggled

Across the room Aaron rolled his eyes causing Nick to smile, “Ohhh! It’s beautiful!!” She kissed Nick on the cheek, “You’re so thoughtful! But you know what would go great with this? I saw the cutest little earrings, maybe we could stop by the jewelry store later and pick them up.”

Nick’s mother gave a disapproving look. “It’s Christmas, Mandy.” she tried to reason

“OH, Nicky won’t mind, will ya Nicky? Pease?”

“Uhh…”

“Oh you’re such a sweet heart!”

With that his mother threw up her hands in frustration and left the room.

By 9 everything was a lot better at the Miller household, Caitlin was actually on her feet despite the protests from Jessee, the kids weren’t fighting and Jinx, tried from being terrorized was sleeping, safe, on Anastasia’s lap. Somewhere in her mind she could imagine Nick playing video games with his brother having the time of his life just happy to be home.

She sighed when her phone rang, “Hello?”

“Sweetie!”

She smiled at the voice of the man she loved, “Adam, Merry Christmas!”

Nick deep in thought, focused in on the shopping bag by the door.

“Nicky, what’s wrong?”

“Huh? Oh nothing, I’m gunna go call someone.”

“Ok but remember you promised to take me to the store later.”

He grabbed the phone and shopping bag and left the room without answering, he dialed the now familiar number and let it ring.

“Hello?”

“Hi! Anastasia, how-“

“This is Anastasia’s machine, I’m not home right now, I went to Florida for Christmas, but will be back on Monday. If it’s real important you can call my cell at 555-1234.” *beep*

Nick hung up, “Florida, I wonder if she’s near here…” He quickly dialed her cell phone number.

“Adam hold on for a sec I got another call.”

*click*

“Hello?”

“Anastasia?”

“Who’s this?” the voice sounded familiar…

“Piggy it’s me!”

“Oh hey Nick, Merry Christmas!”

He smiled, “So you’re in Florida?”

“Yeah…aren’t you going to say Merry Christmas?”

“Oh yeah, sorry, Merry Christmas. Where in Florida?”

“Right outside, Orlando why?”

“Cause I’ve got your gift…and since I’m in Florida, you’re in Florida only about 15 minutes apart I could give it to you.”

“My gift?”

“Yeah…I’m in the process of wrapping it now.” He picked up the gift, it was a snow globe of a lake complete with ducks and a little rowboat, it played “You are my sunshine” when you winding it up. When he saw it he knew she had to have it, he shook it slightly before placing it in its box, and grabbing the wrapping paper.

“Ohh…I have one for you too…” she said searching through her room for something she could give him

“You do?” he said surprised while attempting to get the paper on straight

“Yeah…what did you want anyways?”

He laughed, “Well actually I was hoping for the new Blink 182 CD but no one got it for me.”

“Well…you might just get it.”

He laughed again reaching for the tape, “Want to meet in about an hour?”

She laughed nervously, “But nothing’s open.”

“What do you mean?”

She could tell he was grinning, “Where were you thinking?”

He quickly gave her directions to a park about 5 minutes away from Jessee’s house and they decided to meet there in an hour.

After she hung up with Nick and was surprised when she heard someone still on the other end, “Nick?”

“No, this would be your faithful boyfriend calling long distance, from Connecticut who has been waiting for 15 minutes.”

“Oh…opps.”

“Opps?”

“Yeah well, I’m sorry Adam you know I love you. I’ll call you later alright?”

“I...”

“Bye”

She hung up and walked into the other room, “Does anyone know where I can find a CD store that’s open?”
