You’ve got a friend in me
Nick didn’t call and Anastasia left two days later.
“Nick what’s up?” the voice on the other end of the phone tried desperately to make contact with his silent band mate.
“Huh?”
The voice sighed, “You have barely said two words since I called you, and those were hello and pudding.” He sighed at his failed attempt to make his friend laugh
“I don’t know…”
“Nick, bro, I can’t help you if I don’t know what’s wrong.”
“Brian, man, I kissed her.”
“Huh? Wait who? Oh Anastasia.” Brian said coming to realization, “Does this mean no more Mandy?” he asked a bit to eagerly
Nick ignored this and went on, “And it was like nothing I ever experienced before…it’s like the best thing that has ever happened but I’m terrified of it.”
“Well…what does Anastasia have to say about all this?”
“She didn’t say anything, things got weird so I took it back.”
“How do you take back a kiss?” Brian said obviously confused
“Ya, know the whole, ‘it was just a kiss between friends’” Nick sighed and covered his face with his hands
“Aww…man…well let me ask you this did she kiss back?” when there was no answer he continued. “Well then the only advice I can give you is everything happens for a reason. And if you two are truly meant to be she’ll come around, Nick I think you just have to give her some time.”
“But what about Mandy?”
“What about her? Nick, do you love her?” he spoke frustrated at first but then he turned more gentle as not to get Nick more upset, “Which one can you imagine spending the rest of you life with? I think if you think about it you’ll find your answer.”
“Thanks Brok.”
“I’ll call you later ok?”
“Yup. Bye.”
Nick lay in bed that night replaying the situation with Anastasia and the conversation with Brian over and over. Debating each side, by the time the sun rose he knew what he had to do.
Anastasia paced around her house waiting for her friend Elisa to pick her up for the party, but she couldn’t concentrate.
She answered the door for her red headed friend who was full of energy as usual, “Oh you look great!”
“Thanks so do you, I’ll be ready in a minute.”
“Ok, Kevin and Eric are waiting in the car.” She picked up the snow globe that was lying on the counter, “Wow this is beautiful, where did you get it?”
Anastasia looked over to what she was talking about, “Uh…a friend.”
“Care to elaborate?”
“I…” she started but the feeling that she had been battling with for the past few days came all at once. Elisa seeing her friend’s sudden display of emotions sat down and patted the cushion next to her. “Tell me all about it.”
“So what am I supposed to do?”
“So wait back up…you kissed a Backstreet Boy?! And liked it! Wow you’re one lucky girl!”
Anastasia laughed and sniffed slightly Elisa handed her a tissue, “I guess I can’t just let some guy that just pops into my life just to come between Adam and I.”
“Well who do you love?”
“Huh?”
“When you kissed Nick, what did you feel?”
“First Nick kissed me and second I felt great...but then things got weird and he said it was just a kiss between friends but I can’t ignore the feelings I felt.”
Elisa nodded, “Well what about Adam…”
“I don’t know, I mean I love Adam. He’s…” she was silent for a moment, “But when I’m with Nick, I forget all about Adam, I’m completely at ease.”
“Well, there’s not much I can say to help…you have to make a decesion for yourself.”
“I guess I can’t let a guy that just shows up in my life, stirs some feelings come between Adam and I.”
“Ok then, give me a hug…”
“Thanks for listening.”
“No problem now let’s party!”
