Born: Paul Slayton, March 30, 1980 Houston, TX How it all began: At 14, Wall started in the Northwest side of Houston slinging street team promotions for T.I., Cash Money, No Limit and eventually Swisha House, while honing his rap skills on the side. Heavily influenced by the legendary DJ Screw, Wall also DJ'd parties and created underground mix tapes in the same screwed style created and made famous by his inspiration. Career highlights: He was one-half of Houston duo The Color Changing Click, alongside long-time colleague Chamillionaire who he's fallen in and out with over the years. The two were originally affiliated with Swisha house Records, but eventually had a falling out with the label and left for Paid in Full Records. Sometime around their following mix tapes and indie releases, including 2002's Get Ya Mind Correct, 2004's Chick Magnet and 2005's Controversy Sells, the duo had another falling out - this time with each other. While Chamillionaire continued on the indie route, Wall returned to Swisha house where he appeared on Mike Jones' first commercially distributed single, "Still Tippin'," from the popular album, Who Is Mike Jones? Wall's major label debut, The People's Champ, dropped September 2005. Day job: Wall also owns a Houston jewelry store which specializes in custom iced-out grills; supplying cosmetic dental bling featuring silver, gold, or platinum caps with princess-cut diamond inlays. Car fetish: Wall is known around his hometown for his brightly colored lowrider convertibles. He carries the nickname the "undisputed king of the parking lot." From the horse's mouth: "My music is about hustling, not just hustling in terms of the block. It's music that inspires you to go out there and get it - doing whatever you gotta' do. As far as being the people's champ, I've always treated people with respect whether you work in the mailroom or you're the president of the company. And the people in general have really embraced me for that." - Paul Wall
