| Some reflection questions on beauty & excellence: 1) What comes to your mind most often when you're thinking of something beautiful and excellent? 2) Do you tend to think of beauty as a physical quality or as an intangible quality? If you say both, do you tend to have a greater degree of appeal and affection toward one over the other in a given instance? 3) Are there universal qualities of beauty that would agree to everyone's desire, impression or taste? Or is beauty simply subjective in nature? 4) Does your experience and enjoyment of what you find beautiful and excellent tend to be long-lasting or short-lived? |

| Thank you for checking out my website this month. The topic for August is the question, What do you see as beautiful and excellent? This has to do with what you seek and love as a big and main attraction in life - something you cherish deeply and have an aesthetic appeal toward. Lik-See, 08-18-04 As a working definition, I see beauty and excellence as the qualities which elicit the most pleasure in you.by you seeing and experiencing the very thing you find beautiful and excellent. *It can mean being in a loving relationship with someone who knows your flaws but still cares and accepts you - confirming in your heart that there can be something much more beautiful in a person than physical appearances. *It can mean watching a majestic, towering home-run soar into the night sky in the bottom of the ninth as the home crowd cheers over the final score. *It can mean watching a gushing, powerful waterfall descend and crashes at the bottom, creating an ethereal mist of vapor, punctuated by nature's curved array of colors cast forth by the sun's rays. *It can mean standing awestruck inside a European cathedral with its architectural ceiling seemingly stretching to the far reaches of the stratrosphere, as the gleam of sunlight through the stain-glass windows highlights the etched artistry from several centuries ago. *It can mean looking up on a clear, still night at the stars and constellations light years away, and just feeling small and insignficant compared to the vast expanse of the galaxy - let alone the universe. *It can mean that maybe there is a beauty out there far bigger and more breathtaking than you've ever imagined, yet hope that someday you'll experience. |
