(The Self....continued)

So in essence, being called selfish (mindful of the self) does not mean that you are unaware of the bigger picture, or that you are not aware of the feelings and needs of others. In fact, taking the time and effort to make the inner journey brings the realisation that you are connected to something much bigger!

If we live according to who other people want us to be, we live through the needs and wants of others and we never fully come into our own being and discover our essence or our purpose and make no mistake we all have an important purpose and a reason for being here. By living according to others we end up walking anothers path and living anothers truths.

People wonder why our children are so susceptible to peer pressure and suggestion why they are so easily led. It is because they are taught disconnection and separation and self sacrifice from the day they make their entrance into this earth plane.

We are programmed to disconnect from the self and never discover our own truths. From the earliest possible moment, we should be encouraging the being to get in touch with itself on all levels physically, emotionally and spiritually. This approach comes with love and acceptance for each of us to become the very best we can be to reach our true potential and fulfil our purpose and learn the lessons we have come to learn. This approach teaches us that we are a part of the Divine Source and we can learn this just as well in adulthood and in fact this often happens.

From our birth we are fighting to connect to who we are as well as to connect with the Divine Source it is part of what drives us. If we were allowed to focus on the self at an earlier age, we wouldnt have to spend so much time in adulthood righting the balance of our own egos and tearing down the facades we have built for the benefit of others. Many go in search of themselves, their truths and their Divine connection during their adult years having felt the loneliness and emptiness that not knowing the self brings.

Of course there are Universal Truths as well as personal ones. As you learn, connect and grow you will discover these too on your journey. Each of us has to take responsibility for their spiritual growth and development as much as we can. We can come to know who we are, learn to hear our inner guidance, connect to guides, meditate etc

We may not have all the answers, but if we know that there is more out there and that we are a part of an infinite source striving to learn and grow, it gives us a sense of unity and community which allows us to tap into the enormous amount of energy and knowledge available to us. Changes start from within and fan outwards not vica versa.

We can begin by looking at the self first, righting and healing the imbalances which we find bearing in mind that we may not see all the imbalances and shadows all at once. It is a slow process on which we have to work with loving patience. When we achieve each progress, we bring such positive, loving energy to the whole!

Working and healing the self first is like working on your small corner of the garden in order to benefit the total ecosystem. Imagine that each of us is a flower in the Universal Garden. If we make diligently sure that our little flower is growing well, that it is getting enough nutrients and water for its growth, that we pick off the pests that eat away at its blooms or leaves, if we cut away any dead wood that is impairing its growth, then we will create a beautiful flower that is constantly growing in our spot in the garden.

The perfume from our flower wafts gently across the rest of the garden cresting a beautiful aroma enjoyed by all. The care that we are taking with our own flower ensures that we do not pass on any pests to others, that no weeds strangle anothers roots, or that any dead wood gets in the way of anothers sunlight. If we all tend our own flower in this way, we affect every other flower in a beneficial and positive way and the Universal Garden would be a show winner!

Blessings!
