| THE SELF AND THE WHOLE COLLECTIVE. BY Caz and Friends in Spirit The healing of the self is the first rung on the ladder to healing the world!! Dramatic? Perhaps, but if every being focused on their own healing first, the earth plane would be a lot higher in vibration and a much better place to live. If everyone of us concentrated on the healing of our own issues and shadows before we looked at anyone else and pointed the finger, there would be no wars, no competition, no envy, no hatred, no bigotry etc Christ put it so well when he explained that we should remove the log from our own eye before we endeavoured to remove the speck from someone elses eye. Many of us have been taught that to put ourselves first is selfish and that this is a negative character trait. We have been taught to put our selves third or fourth or last on the list. If we focused on ourselves first, we were labelled a selfish person, and that was viewed as being bad or thoughtless. So taking this line of thought a little further - focusing on our self or connecting to our inner selves was deemed a negative thing. Yet, if we do not begin to know ourselves then how can we find out who we are and why we have come? The word thoughtless (which is often connected to the word selfish), implies a state of no mind in which no thought processes are active. Usually when it is used in conjunction with the word selfish, it means that the person calling you these things is angry because they believe that you hadnt thought of them and their needs as much as they think you should have! However, your needs may in fact be so different to theirs that they are not even in the same ball park so sometimes it is necessary to understand that you cannot be everything to everyone all the time without detracting or taking away something from yourself. Then we move into the realms of self-sacrifice and martyrdom how much do you take away from yourself to please or satisfy others? In point of fact, you were being thoughtful just not about the person who wanted to be thought of! There has to be a balance. So here we have two words that imply something negative where they perhaps should have a much more positive connotation. Just like the word ego, the words selfish and thoughtless have become synonymous with something negative or non-desirable. However, when you look more closely at what these words actually mean, perhaps they should not carry these negative implications. When we are little, we are taught to think of others and to share. This is a good thing if it comes from the heart, but if the giving and sharing is done consistently with a feeling of giving something up that was important to the self, then it becomes a sacrifice. If this becomes the norm then it is far easier for the growing human being to fall into the traps of self-sacrifice, self-denial, victimhood and martydom. None of these character traits serve the highest good of the spiritual being, the soul. It is not healthy to discount or deny your own feelings and needs and this pathway so easily leads into the shadow side of life where the ego becomes unbalanced. True sharing and giving comes with a willing heart and sacrifice for another can be a noble thing. However, when this becomes normal practice then the needs of the person doing all the giving are constantly denied. Many people are brought up to deny their own needs and they feel they have to keep up that faade for others. However, inside them is a different story. This is why people begin to wear masks for others. Walking on your pathway in this manner means not only are you walking in untruths but you are not really sure of what your truths are, or indeed who you are, for you have always had to think and focus on the needs of others first. We are taught to cover our true feelings and needs because they are deemed selfish. The argument is that putting your self first and focusing on you, you are not aware of the bigger picture. Spiritually, we are part of a whole; we are part of a group consciousness, which is vast. So if we lose sight of the bigger picture, we become unaware and ego imbalance steps in again. Being unaware of the bigger picture, means we disconnect from the group consciousness and the Divine Source. If this happens, we stumble from our path and lose our way in the intricacies of our unbalanced ego and mind. To keep the ego balanced, we must be connected and aware of our being connected to the Divine Source. We must be aware that we are part of the whole, otherwise we think we are separate and alone. When we live according to an unbalanced ego, we lose touch with our spirit and our soul. We live in the shadows instead of the light for these are where the shadows live in an unbalanced ego. Thus we are socialised to disconnect from our self from a very early age. We are never really given the chance or are encouraged to find out who we are, why we are here. We are taught that we are separate and there is no bigger picture. We are taught that we are not connected to anything or anyone else in a tangible way. The expression no man is an island is an excellent contradiction which shoots the separation theory down in flames it is a pity that more of us do not understand and live our lives according to this knowledge . |
