Mystical the kau walked over to her bedroom window and sighed. Its still raining. Thats all it ever does around here anymore. For the past few weeks it had been pouring rain nonstop, and there was always talk and fear of a flood.

Hey, Lorien called from Mysticals doorway. She spun around to face the gelert, and got an annoyed look on her face. She and her adopted brother didnt get along very well, and were always mad at each other for some reason or another.

What do you want? she asked, frowning. Lorien held out his deck of cards. Cheat? Mystical whined when she saw the cards. But, weve already played that so many times today. I just wish it would stop raining. Mystical placed her head in her hooves and stared blankly out the window.

Lorien shrugged. Well, if youre so bored, why dont you finish that big pile of homework you have to finish by... tomorrow. The Kau gasped. She had forgotten all about homework. She waved the Gelert out of her room and went over to her desk. She had one assignment left, so it wasnt that much. She stared at her papers, wondering how in the world she was supposed to write a paper about being stranded with her worst enemy. Well, the worst enemy part would be pretty easy. She thought as she pictured her brother standing in front of her, grinning evilly.

Mystical picked up her pen and began to write. After a few minutes, she threw down her pen. This is stupid! she said to herself. Who would even want to write about their worst enemy?

She got up and walked back to her window. The rain was pounding at the glass, trying to tear it down. Mystical felt like screaming, and barely kept herself from doing so.

Boo! yelled Lorien, right from behind the Kau. That did it. She started screaming like the world was about to end. Lorien burst into a fit of laughter.

Suddenly, there was a big crash, and both the pets stopped making noise and stared. The rain had finally succeeded in breaking the window. There was shattered glass all around the floor, and rain was pouring into the room, along with a strong, cold wind.

Lorien yelled, trying to make his voice heard above the wind. Come on, wed better get out of here! he said shivering.

His sister nodded and the two made their way towards the bedroom door, but before they reached it, another gush of water rushed through the open window. Just as Mystical reached for the door handle, one last flood of water filled the room, and they were swept outside into the swirling flood of water, trying to stay above the surface, and fighting for their lives...
