Train for a certain amount of time and become master of the black arts, or become a high priest using white magic slowly work your way up(you will have a basic spell to learn). For example to get from fire to flame you need to train for 20 days. You could train for 20 days at once. Or you could 10 days then do something else and then another 10 days.
