The Unofficial Lightbearers Halo Tournaments
Rules & Regulations

Revised 8/6/05

-Bracket Manager-
Every Halo tournament event that is ran by The Lightbearers will be coordinated and supervised by one or more bracket managers for each bracket. Bracket manager(s) are very simply individuals that oversee the basic structure, guidelines and rules of a tournament bracket. They are also the individuals to whom winning teams will report their wins during the tournament. All in all, bracket managers help to keep the tournament fun and flowing.
Note: Bracket managers may NOT participate in any bracket that is going on during the tournament they manage.

-Teams-
Teams will consist of a specified amount of players and may change depending each tournament. All members of a team MUST show up to be eligible to play in that game. If even one player doesn't show then the whole team must forfeit that game. Teams may choose to have a team name, however for the sake of clarity, teams will be referenced in the bracket by their player names (and in this case, gamertags.) If a team chooses to incorporate some sort of team name then those names must not be in any way crude, offensive, profane, vulgar, racist, sexual in nature, etc. Rejecting a team name that any team assumes for any of the reasons, but not limited to, those listed above is entirely up to and the duty of the bracket manager.

-Rumbles-
If a player is playing in a rumble tournament and fails to show up to their game on time, then that player automatically forfeits their game. A player who failed to show up on time for their rumble game shall never be allowed to jump in mid-game.

-Players-
Players may only participate on one bracket for each tournament event, and may not participate in more than one bracket that is going on at the same time. Players may not switch teams after their tournament bracket has begun. Every player will be referenced by his or her gamertag. Although, players have no ability to change their gamertag, we do prefer that players who join a Lightbearers tournament have gamertags that are not in any way crude, offensive, profane, vulgar, racist, sexual in nature, etc. Rejecting a player based on their gamertag name and its excessive violation for any reason such as, but not limited to, those listed above is entirely up to and the duty of the bracket manager.

-Rules During Gameplay-
Tournament games will always be played as soon as possible. Essentially, once it is determined, based on the structure of the bracket that two teams, or combination of players for a rumble will be pitted against each other then that game should immediately begin soon thereafter.

Tournament games shall last no longer than 15 minutes. To ensure this, the party leader of every game must make sure that the round time limit is set appropriately so that games will not last longer than 15 minutes.

The game types played must be exactly the game type decided on prior to the tournament. Your bracket manager will ensure that the game has been created on his/her Xbox, and then have your whole team join the created party. Any alterations to the game made after the bracket manager hands over the party lead are strictly prohibited.

Once it is decided that two teams or combination of players for a rumble shall play against each other, those players may NOT play any type of practice round before hand. This rule is in place to protect those that rightfully won a real tournament game from teams that may have won a practice game and then claim that the "practice" game was the official agreed upon tournament game.

Quitting and restarting a game is not allowed at all. Should a player decide that they need their player settings changed after a game has started then the only option is for that player to risk changing their settings mid-game.

Anyone playing in an active, on screen game may use any form of communication they desire and may talk about and say whatever they desire as long as their choice of words are not crude, offensive, profane, vulgar, racist, sexual in nature, etc. THIS IS GOVERNED BY THE HONOR SYSTEM, SO PLEASE DON'T ABUSE A PLAYER'S RIGHT TO A FUN AND FILTH-FREE GAME.

After a tournament game is over it is the duty of one of the players on the winning team to send a text message stating the bracket game # that they won to the gamertag of their bracket manager. So, for example, if players "Presentlight" and "Doctor Luke" are assigned to play in bracket game #3 and they win then they would send a text message to the bracket manager that would read "Game 3". When playing in a rumble game, there will be a specified cut-off placement that will be used to determine winning and losing players. It is duty of the players who finished at or above the cut-off placement in their rumble game to also send a text message stating the game # that they won. So, for example, if players "Presentlight", "Doctor Luke", "Sionson" and "Father Hartley" are playing in a rumble game in which the cut-off marker is set at 2nd place and the results of that game are: 1st- "Presentlight", 2nd- "Doctor Luke", 3rd- "Sionson" and 4th- "Father Hartley" then players "Presentlight" and "Doctor Luke" would message their bracket manager with their win. After each round, the bracket manager would then send a voice message or party invite back to one of the players on every team still in the tournament stating the game # and team that they will be playing next. If playing in a rumble tournament then the bracket manager would send every player still in the tournament a message or invite when ready.

If any game ends in a tie, it is the responsibility of a member from both teams to send a text message to their bracket manager that reads "Tie Game (#)". All members of the tied game shall remain in a party together and the bracket manager will arrive shortly. To break the tie, your bracket manager should be given the party lead and will set up a short tie-breaker round. After this game it would then the duty of one of the winning players to then send a text message to the bracket manager that would read "Game (#)" just as they would have done had the original game not ended in a tie.

-Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Gameplay During Tournament- Are these legal?-

Modding NO Anything that Bungie considers illegal, we do to.
Superjumping NO It's exploiting a glitch that Bungie never intended to happen.
Griefing NO It's an extreme form of taunting and un-sportsmanlike

Sword glitching NO Once again, it's exploiting an unexpected glitch

-Determining Placement in the Bracket-
It is the duty of the bracket manager to determine which bracket a player will play in when they request to participate. It is also the duty of the bracket manager to determine where in the bracket a player will begin.

These rules and regulations are only guidelines to assist in providing a smooth and problem free environment for all who participate or are involved with any Halo Tournament that is ran by The Lightbearers. Interpretation of these rules and regulations will always be the responsibility of the bracket manager. These rules and regulations are subject to change without notice. ©2005
