Zoroastrianism is the religion of the followers of the ancient Persian proper Zoroaster (whose name comes from the Greek rendering of the name Zarathhustral), who is believed to have been born between 1200 and 600 BCE. The precise dating is difficult to establish. Because of a lack of historical sources, but linguistic analysis of religious texts favors the earlier date.
