REDDING, CA – THE ADDAMS’ HOUSE – APR.8th, 2002 – MONDAY
“Ok. It’s done.” Kirstin said as she took the cd out of the computer drive “Now… Just have to call Harbor.” when Kirstin took the phone out of the base unit, it started ringing “Hello?” Kirstin answered it.
“Hey, Kirstin.”
“Oh…” Kirstin recognized Jared’s voice “Hey.”
“I’m sorry I’m calling you. And I’m sorry for dropping by today without telling you. I don’t know why I did that, but I just felt the need to talk to you and I just didn’t wanna talk to you over the phone and I just had the idea of going by your house and I didn’t have any idea Ashley was gonna be there. If I knew, I wouldn’t have come and…”
“Jared?” Kirstin asked.
“Yes.”
“Babbling.” Kirstin informed him. She smiled. She just couldn’t be mad with a guy like Jared. He was too silly.
“Right.” Jared took a deep breath that Kirstin could hear “So… I just wanted to talk to you about last night and how sorry I am that I kissed you and...”
“Jared. It was not your fault.”
“No, it was my fault, Kirstin.”
“No, it wasn’t! I kissed you, Jared. And I should be the one asking for your apology. We’re both committed to someone else. I don’t know about you, but I love Ashley and I just don’t know why I kissed you, I have no idea why I did that, I was so screwed up and you were so nice and I don’t know why I did that and I’m sorry, but I just…”
“Kirstin?” Jared interrupted her.
“Yes.” she answered.
“Babbling.”
“Right!” Kirstin smiled “Sorry. But it’s like I said. I don’t know why I did it. And I shouldn’t have. I’m so sorry.”
“I still don’t think it’s your fault. You know what I think?” Jared asked.
“What?”
“That it was no one’s fault.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah… I mean, we were a bit drunk and I don’t know… and nothing really happened. We didn’t actually kiss. It was just like… a peck. An innocent peck, you know?”
“Yeah, I guess so. It doesn’t mean anything, right?”
“Yeah, sure.”
“Good. I thought I had given you the wrong idea and that I would hurt you by telling you it didn’t mean anything. But I’m glad to see we’re on the same page here.”
“Hey, don’t worry, K. I totally understand it.”
“Oh, thanks so much Jared. You have no idea how happy that makes me.”
“It’s alright.”
“Can we just forget it now?” Kirstin asked him.
“Of course. It’s forgotten.”
“Good.” Kirstin was relieved. Everything was clear for both of them now.
“So… how was lunch?” Jared asked her.
“Good. We went to the movies afterwards and then went shopping for the event. I didn’t know it was gonna be formal.”
“Yeah, it is. What have you bought?”
“A dress. Nothing too special, I guess.”
“Oh, ok. But I bet it looks good on you.”
“Don’t know about that. I never feel comfortable wearing dresses so…”
“You’ll be fine.”
“Hope so…”
“So… let me go now. Cindy’s waiting for me. But we’ll talk, right?”
“Yeah, sure. Oh, Jared, before you go. You work at Harbor, right?
“Yeah…”
“So… can you help me out with something?”
“Sure. Shoot.”
REDDING, CA – THE ADDAMS’ HOUSE – APR.9th, 2002 – TUESDAY
“Hey, girl.” Ashley said as he entered Kirstin’s house.
“Hey, Ash.” Kirstin wrapped her arms around Ashley’s neck and kissed him hard on the lips.
“So… why did you need me here at exactly 3:30 p.m.?”
“It’s just that I have a surprise for you. But it’s not really here. We have to go to Harbor.”
“To Harbor?”
“Yeah. Harbor.” Kirstin sounded suspicious.
“What’s going on, Kirstin?” Ashley frowned.
“It’s a surprise. Now, let’s go.” Kirstin took her bag and pulled Ashley by the wrist out of her house.
