~*~ Chapter 1 ~*~
NEW YORK CITY, NY – KIRSTIN’S LOFT – JAN. 17TH, 2002– Thursday
Kirstin woke up. She turned around to find Ashley’s side of the bed empty.
“Great…” Kirstin said, sitting up in bed.
She went to the bathroom to wash herself up. When she got to the bedroom again, she noticed a letter on Ashley’s pillow she hadn’t noticed before.
My sweet baby Kirstin,
I’m so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so,
so sorry I had to leave. I didn’t wake you up because you looked too
beautiful sleeping. Didn’t wanna mess that up.
I’m going to California today to work in the studio, but
I’ll try my best to come back as soon as possible. Even if I get just
one day off, I’m coming back to New York, alright? And I promise that
once we’re together again, I’ll make it up to you. Totally.
I’ll call you. Please, don’t be mad. Remember that
I love you ‘til death!
Yours, and only yours,
Ashley Angel.
PS: Smile!
She managed to smile even being mad. But she was not mad at Ashley. He was too sweet. She didn’t know why she was mad. She was actually sad. Now that Ashley was gone and she didn’t have Tom around anymore and Grace was out of town with her new baseball player boyfriend, she was left alone in the city. She just realized that she needed new friends. She now depended on only 2 people. What would she do in situations like that one she was going through now?
She pulled all her efforts on standing up and taking a bath before going to college.
NEW YORK CITY, NY – AIRPORT – JAN. 17TH, 2002
Ashley told Mike he’d meet them at the airport. So, there he was, waiting for his friends to get there.
“Yo, Ash!” he heard Erik’s voice as he turned around to see all the guys there with him.
“Hey, guys!” he hugged Erik, Trevor and Dan. He just ignored Jacob because he was still not talking to him for all the things he said about him and his relationship with Kirstin the day of the charity baseball game.
“Hey, come here.” Erik pushed him aside “Why don’t you go talk to him, huh?”
“No. He’s the one that should be coming up to me. He was the one that said all that bullshit at the stadium. It’s not my fault we’re not talking.”
“Ash, stop being such a ten-year-old, with this ‘he started it’ crap. Be a man and go talk to him.”
“I don’t know… maybe… now that Kirstin and I are together I don’t really care for what he says. Not that I once did.”
“You two are together?” Erik asked excited.
“Yeah.” Ashley smiled big.
“That’s so great man!” Erik hugged him really tight “That’s so cool. What did you do to get her back?”
“I just opened up myself, I guess. Let her know how important she is to me and how much I love her.”
“Aw, you.” Erik joked.
“Stop it.” Ashley chuckled.
“Now, seriously, go talk to him.”
“Ok, I might aswell. It’s really awkward.”
“Yeah, it is!”
“Ok. I’ll talk to him on the plane, then.”
“Good. Now let’s go.”
NEW YORK CITY, NY – JAN. 17TH, 2002
Kirstin was leaving work. She had told her boss, Andrew Jackson, every single detail of what had happened in the last few days and why she didn’t go to work the day before and never called. Andrew confessed he had gotten a little worried, because he knew that if something was going on, Kirstin would call. As she didn’t, he thought it was something really serious. But now he was glad to see it was not that serious and she was feeling alright. He was sorry for her though, because he liked Tom and he seemed to be a very nice guy.
Going home, Kirstin felt kinda relieved she didn’t have any other friends. That way she wouldn’t have to go through all the details of her break up with Tom and her get back together with Ashley.
NEW YORK
CITY, NY – KIRSTIN’S LOFT – JAN. 17TH, 2002
Kirstin
closed the door behind her and collapsed onto the couch. She started crying.
She didn’t know why, though. She was happy she was with Ashley again,
so why was she crying?
Then the phone rang. She wiped the tears away and tried to put on a happy voice, sensing it was Ashley on the phone.
“Hello?” she said with her best happy voice.
“Hey, K! It’s me! Guess what? I’m coming to New York tomorrow!” an excited voice came from the other side of the phone.
“Oh, hey, G. That’s cool.” Kirstin didn’t want to hide her unhappy voice anymore. It was Grace. She could know Kirstin had been crying.
“What’s wrong? You don’t seem too excited.”
“Where do you want me to start?” Kirstin couldn’t stop the tears anymore.
“K, are you crying?” Grace got worried.
“Yeah. How stupid am I, huh?” Kirstin tried hard to smile.
“You’re not stupid, K. Just tell me what’s wrong.”
“G, it’s impossible. Too much happened. I don’t wanna talk about it with you over the phone.”
“Ok. I understand, but now I’m worried. And I don’t get there until tomorrow. I don’t have any idea of what it is, but don’t do anything stupid, alright? I’ll be there tomorrow and as soon as I get to the airport, I’m going straight up to your loft. I’ll get there around 8 pm.”
“Ok.”
“K, please, don’t do anything and I’ll see you tomorrow, alright?”
“Yeah, ok. I won’t, don’t worry.”
“Ok. Bye.”
“Bye.”
Kirstin put the phone back on its base unit. With all the crying, she had forgotten to ask Grace how things were with Mark. But she didn’t worry about it.
“It’s probably fine. Only my life is shitty.” Kirstin closed her eyes and before she noticed it, she was sound asleep.
