~*~ Chapter 31 ~*~

NEW YORK CITY, NY – Yankee Stadium – Jan. 12th, 2002 – Saturday

The ride to Kirstin’s loft was quite. She was driving, Ashley on her side and Grace on the back seat.

On the elevator, Kirstin had butterflies on her stomach. She was worried about a lot of things. ‘What’s Tom gonna do about Ashley being at home? I didn’t even say Ashley was in town! Oh man, this is not gonna be good.’

When they got to Kirstin’s floor, Kirstin hesitated before getting out of the elevator. She opened the door to her loft and Tom was nowhere in sight.

“Tom?” she asked from the door.

     “He’s not here?” Grace asked.

“No, his wallet is there at the table. He must be on the shower.” Kirstin put her things on her couch “Just wait down here. I’ll go talk to him.”

“Ok.” Grace said and Ashley just nodded, sitting down on her couch.

Kirstin got into the bathroom to find Tom under the shower. He didn’t see her. Kirstin stood there for a while, watching him. He was so gorgeous, so hot. Why would she want more? She smiled.

“God, Kirstin! You scared me!” Tom looked at her.

     “Sorry, baby.” she grinned.

“How long have you been there?”

“Oh, just got here. Are you almost done with your shower?”

“Why? You wanna come in and join me?” Tom had a sexy look on.

“That’s not it.” Kirstin giggled “I just need to talk to you.”

     “What about?”

     “It’s… ahm… it’s that… hm… Ashley’s downstairs.”

     “What?” Tom raised his voice.

“Calm down! Ashley is here. He called telling me he was in town so we decided to meet up.”

     “Ashley is in our house?”

“Yes. And we’re going out. Me, him, Grace, Barry and Mark.”

“Who are Barry and Mark?” Tom left the shower and grabbed a towel.

“The baseball players we met last night.”

     “Oh, ok. Oh, man. Ashley?”

“Yeah, Tom. Ashley. And we had this conversation already. You told me yourself that you were fine about Ashley.”

     “Yeah, but…”

     “But what?”

“I was fine with Ashley when he was miles away from you. Not now that his just a few feet away.” he said as he rolled his towel on his waist.

“Tom, please, baby.” Kirstin wrapped her arms around his waist “Don’t be bad to him. You know he is one of my closest friends. And I wanna go out with him and my other friends.” Kirstin lightly sucked on his wet chest.

“Ok, ok.” Tom didn’t sound too happy, but with Kirstin sucking his skin, he couldn’t resist to anything she’d ask, and she knew that.

“Good. Do you wanna come with us?” Kirstin didn’t even look on his eyes to hear the answer. She was afraid he would say yes and what would happen then.

“Thanks, but my boss just called and I have to be at Luna in 40 minutes.”

“Oh…” Kirstin didn’t wanna show she was happy with that answer.

     “Sorry, baby.”

“No, that’s ok. I understand.” That was better than ok. That was excellent. But Tom couldn’t notice Kirstin was happy about it.

“I’ll make it up to you.”

“You better.” she smiled into his eyes. He leaned in and kissed her passionately. She moaned.

“Perfect.” she said when he pulled back.

“I still got it.” Tom smirked proud of himself “Now, let me change and I’ll get downstairs in a minute.” he said letting go of Kirstin’s hug.

“Ok. Oh! Mark and Barry are coming here.” Kirstin informed when she was almost at the door.

“No! Are they really?” Tom got excited.

“Yes.” Kirstin smirked. He looked just like a child, happy like that.

“Oh, man! That’s so cool! Mark Mulder and Barry Zito in my place!”

“I’m glad you like the news.”

“Like it? Oh, man! Ok, let me change, for real now.”

“Ok. Meet you downstairs.” she closed the door behind her and smiled weakly. What if Barry would do something stupid? “Oh, God…” Kirstin said out loud before heading down.

“Ok. I talked to him. Everything is fine.” Kirstin said to Ashley.

“Are you sure? He’s not gonna punch me the minute he heads down?” Ashley grinned.

     “No, Ashley!” Kirstin grinned too.

“And what about Barry and Mark?” Grace asked from the kitchen area.

“He’s actually pretty excited about that.” Kirstin turned to her friend “He said he couldn’t believe Barry Zito and Mark Mulder would be at his place.” Kirstin shook her head with a grin on her face.

“He’s such a baby! I can imagine his happiness because of that.” Grace sat on the couch next to Ashley.

“Yeah. He was pretty happy.” Kirstin then looked at Ashley “Ash, are you alright? You seem so quiet.”

“Oh, I’m fine. It’s just that I don’t know the guys you’re talking about, so I really have nothing to say about it.” he smiled lightly. Kirstin did too. The doorbell rang.

“Oh, it must be them! I’ll get it! ” Grace got up all excited and went to get the door. Kirstin stood where she was and Ashley stood up next to her. The butterflies had returned to Kirstin’s stomach.

“Hey, baby!” Mark greeted Grace by the door and kissed her passionately. Barry just looked at them making out and did a funny face, going to Kirstin’s direction. Kirstin giggled at his funny face. Ashley looked at Kirstin giggling. ‘Gosh, she is so beautiful!’ he thought.

“Hey, girl!” Barry greeted Kirstin when he got closer to her. He kissed her on the cheek almost kissing her lips, just like he had done at the baseball game. Ashley noticed that. Kirstin pushed him back lightly and smiled into his eyes. Barry turned to Ashley “Is this your fiancée?” Barry asked.

“Oh, no. This is Ashley. My friend.”

“Oh, yeah! You’re coming too? Kirstin didn’t say that.” Barry frowned.

“Yes, I did. You must have forgotten.” Kirstin shot Barry a look.

“Maybe.” Barry just nodded “Well, nice to meet you, Ashley.”

“Yeah, you too.” Ashley didn’t intend to be nice to the guy. He didn’t have to.

“Ok, I’m here. Have they got here already?” Tom was heading down the steps all excited when he saw the two tall guys standing in his leaving room “Oh, hello! I’m Tom Walsh, Kirstin’s fiancée. Nice to meet you.” he shook Barry’s hand and then Mark’s “Well, can I get you guys anything? Beer or something?”

“Yeah, a beer would be cool.” Mark answered.

“I’ll be right back. Please, make yourself at home.” Tom said heading to the kitchen.

     “Thanks.” Barry said, lightly smiling.

‘What an idiot!’ Ashley, that was aware of Kirstin and Barry flirtation, thought. Ashley just shook his head and smiled.

“Let’s sit.” Kirstin motioned for her guests to sit. On one couch sat Grace, Mark and Ashley. On the other one sat Barry, that was waiting for Kirstin to sit beside him. He even patted the couch so she would sit next to him, but Kirstin refused.

“I’ll go help Tom out.” she informed, heading to the kitchen “Hey.” she said when she got to the kitchen “Let me help you out.” She said taking two cans of beer from Tom’s hand.

“Thanks. Oh, man, how great is it?” Tom said in a low tone so they wouldn’t hear him “Mark Mulder and Barry Zito sitting in my couch! Oh! I’ll get my baseball glove so they can sign it!”

“Tom, baby.” Kirstin smirked at him “Calm down. They are nice guys just like you are. Don’t be so… teenybopper.” Kirstin giggled.

     “But they are baseball players!”

“Oh, then get your glove after! Not now, ok? Let’s sit and talk first.”

     “Ok, ok. Let’s go then.”

In the living room, Kirstin handed Ashley a can of beer, but he refused. Then she handed Mark one. Grace didn’t want a beer also. She put the other can on the table. Tom handed Barry a can of beer and opened one for himself. He sat next to Barry. He asked Kirstin to sit and she did in the only seat available, right in the middle of Barry and Tom. ‘Oh, man.’ she thought before sitting down.
