~*~ Chapter 30 ~*~

NEW YORK CITY, NY – Yankee Stadium – Jan. 12th, 2002 – Saturday

Kirstin told Grace every little detail about her conversation with Ashley. Well, it was more like her argument with Ashley. Grace wasn’t even there, but she told Kirstin he was asking all those questions because he was jealous. Kirstin didn’t think so. She thought he was just acting like a friend. He had just been dumped; he wouldn’t be so over Hailey so fast. Would he?

The game was fun. The team Barry was playing on won and the team Mark was on lost, despite all the cheering Grace was doing from her seat. During the whole game, Kirstin sat back on her seat, just thinking of a lot of stuff, as how that date after the game would be, what would Barry try on the date. During the game, Barry was always staring at Kirstin. She realized that and was feeling really uncomfortable. The minute the game ended, Mark and Barry headed to the dugout to talk to Grace and Kirstin.

“Did you like the game?” Barry asked Kirstin the minute he got there.

     “Yeah.” Kirstin smiled.

“She’s lying. She was dying here.” Grace said.

     “G!” Kirstin exclaimed.

“Oh, tell me if it isn’t true!” Grace challenged her.

“Well…” she said looking at Barry “Yeah, I was dying here. But it’s just that I really don’t get baseball and you know that already.”

“Yeah, it’s my fault. We haven’t had our private class about baseball yet.” Barry winked at her.

     “Yes, that’s your fault.”

“Listen, girls, we are gonna change up. We’re sweating like pigs here. Where do we meet you?” Mark asked Grace and Kirstin.

     “Well…” Kirstin replied.

“Hm, let’s meet at Kirstin’s loft.”

     “What?” Kirstin was confused.

“Yeah. Let’s meet at your place in like… half and hour and then we decide where we are going.” Grace explained.

“It works for me.” Barry smiled.

“Yeah…” Mark said after his friend.

“No, no, no. We can’t!” Kirstin didn’t like the idea.

“Why not?” Grace asked and Kirstin just shot her a look.

“It’s just that…” Kirstin was trying to say something but was cut out by Barry.

“Is it because of your fiancée that will be there?” Barry asked.

“Yes, that’s why.” Kirstin told them.

“Well, I can’t see why that’s an issue.” Barry smirked into her eyes. Kirstin didn’t know what to say.

“Yeah, K, and he’ll love to meet Barry and Mark. You know how much he likes baseball, right?” Grace was being a real friend. Not!

“Oh, good! He likes us! That’s even better!” Barry got excited “So, it’s settled. Half an hour, your place. What’s the address?” Grace got a paper and a pen out of her purse and wrote it down, handing it to Mark.

“Good, then we’ll see you in half hour.” Mark pecked Grace on the lips and Barry pecked Kirstin on the cheek, but really close to her lips. When he backed away, he winked at her and left.

“Are you insane?” Kirstin yelled when the guys were far enough “What were you thinking inviting them home? Tom is gonna be there! If he suspects of anything, he’ll kill both of them. And me, and you, and Ashley that’s also gonna be there. Oh My God!” Kirstin shook her head.

“K, I’m gonna be there, I won’t let anything bad happen.”

“Yeah, like you have that power.”

“Well, you know Tom likes me. If I’m with you, he’ll know you’re not doing anything bad.”

“Ok, and what if he wants to go out with us?”

“I haven’t thought about that.” Grace frowned.

“See?” Kirstin sat down and shook her head “Oh my God! Oh my God!”

“K, listen. If he goes with us is not gonna be a bad thing. You’re just not gonna find out if you feel something for the guys, that’s all. But it won’t be terrible, like, neither of them is gonna try to do anything to you with Tom by your side.”

     “Let’s hope not.”

     “They won’t. Don’t worry.”

“Ok, then let’s get out of here, please.”

“Ok. You have to meet Ashley, right?”

     “Yeah, right. Let’s go.”

And they headed out to the food court.

It has being 15 minutes since the end of the game and since Ashley had been waiting up for Kirstin to show up. When he was gonna look at his wristwatch again, he saw her coming to his direction.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.” Kirstin was already apologizing herself.

“That’s alright.” Ashley smiled at her.

     “Hey.” Grace greeted.

     “Hey!” Ashley greeted back.

“So, the deal is that we’re going to K’s loft now. Barry and Mark are gonna meet us there later.” Grace informed him.

     “Oh…” Ashley said.

“Yeah.” Kirstin had a weak smile on “Is that ok?”

“Yeah, sure.” Ashley was playing cool.

“Then, let’s go. Did you get here in a car?” Grace asked Ashley.

“No. I came with the other guys in a rental. But they left already.”

“That’s ok. You come with us. Let’s go then.” Grace ordered.
