~*~ Chapter 27 ~*~
NEW YORK CITY, NY – Yankee Stadium – Jan. 12th, 2002 – Saturday
“He’s gonna kiss her!” Ashley abruptly stood up and was going in Kirstin’s direction when he saw Kirstin turning her face just in time for Barry to kiss her cheek instead of her mouth. Even Erik and Dan, who were sitting beside Ashley, thought they were gonna kiss.
“No. She didn’t let him.” Erik said and grabbed Ashley’s wrist so he wouldn’t leave.
“Yeah, she turned her face.” Dan was actually relieved. Man, imagine the confusion that would be!
“What was he thinking?” Ashley screamed and some people stared at him.
“Ash, calm down. Sit down!” Erik pushed him down by his wrist and Ashley sat down on his seat, resting his head on both his hands and swinging it back and forth.

“No, Barry, please.” Kirstin said as Barry kissed her cheek instead of her mouth. He backed away.
“What? You said you’d make it up for me.”
“I can’t do it. I’m sorry.”
“I won’t give up and you know it.” Barry looked serious.
“You… I…” Kirstin stuttered.
“I have to go.” Barry said as he heard his name being called by a guy in his fifties “But after the game I’m coming to get you.” he kissed her again on the cheek.
“Barry, I…” she said as he was leaving, but he didn’t bother to look back. Kirstin sat on her seat and watched as Barry disappeared “What am I doing?” she wondered out loud.

“Yo, here’s your soda, Dan.” Trevor handed Dan his Coke and sat down beside him and Jacob sat by Trevor’s side.
“What’s up with Ash?” Jacob frowned.
“Man, you have no idea.” Dan practically whispered, so Ashley wouldn’t hear him talking “You remember Kirstin?” they both nodded. Jacob didn’t like Kirstin too much because of some stuff that happened while Ashley was still dating Jennifer, Ashley’s girlfriend before Hailey came along “So, Ashley’s met her here and she’s already set the date to marry that guy she’s engaged too.”
“Yeah… so? Is that why Ash is so pissed?” Jacob asked.
“No. Listen.” Dan continued “So, she’s there at the dugout. Can you see her?” Dan didn’t point out, just asked the guys to turn and try to find Kirstin.
“In that green sleeveless shirt talking to a girl in a red shirt and a baseball player?” Trevor asked.
“Yeah.” Dan answered and carried on “She met two baseball players yesterday. That’s how she got the dugout seats.”
“Ok.” Jacob nodded for Dan to carry on.
“So, Kirstin and the other baseball player, not that one, were talking and it seemed like they were flirting and Ashley was getting mad and wasn’t understanding anything. Like, just a second before you guys came here… Man, this is better than any soup opera.” Dan shook his head lightly and grinned “So, just before you got here, he leaned in to kiss her and Ashley got up all mad and ready to punch the guy.”
“No!” Trevor was getting into the story. Jacob wasn’t bothered.
“Yes!”
“What happened?” Trevor took a sip out of his soda.
“She turned her head and we had to calm Ashley down. He’s pissed!”
“Why?” Jacob didn’t understand what the fuzz was all about.
“Why what?” Dan frowned.
“Why is he pissed?” Jacob asked again.
“Wouldn’t you be if the girl you loved had set the date to marry a dude you hate and then she would kiss someone else but her fiancée that was not you?” Dan understood Ashley’s point of view.
“I would!” Trevor answered.
“I don’t know why Ashley is so hung up to this girl in the first place.” Jacob shook his head “Why won’t he forget her already? He’s been with two great… well, forget I said that about Hailey. One great girl and wasn’t able to forget this Kirstin girl already! Grow up!” Jacob was talking in a loud tone and Ashley heard it.
“Jake, you shut your mouth! You can’t say anything about my feelings for Kirstin. You don’t understand it, so don’t say anything! I’m sick of you always judging me because of that! You grow up out of it!” Ashley stood up and pointed his finger at Jacob. Jacob stood up also and Trevor, sensing something bad would come out of it, got up too.
“Guys, calm down! Everyone’s looking.” Trevor put one hand on Jacob’s chest and the other on Ashley’s to separate them “You are brothers, you don’t have to do this. Jacob, you’ve never been on his shoes to know what he’s feeling, so let the guy deal with his own feelings.”
“But, he just…” Jacob started but Erik interrupted.
“Yeah, Jake, sit down! You have nothing to do with it. You can’t judge anyone. Just let the guy deal with his own problems. If you don’t have anything helpful to say, don’t even open your mouth!” Jacob looked down at Dan sitting there and Dan didn’t say anything. Jacob knew no one agreed with him.
“Fine!” Jacob said and disappeared in to the crowd.
“Ash, sit down. Relax, man.” Trevor motioned for his friend to sit.
“Thanks, guys.” Ashley said and sat down, again holding his head on his hands.
