~*~ Chapter 24 ~*~

NEW YORK CITY, NY – Club Luna – Jan. 11th, 2002 – Friday

Kirstin and Barry talked for a lot of time. They talked just about everything. Kirstin’s job, Barry’s profession, their hobbies, their lives. But Kirstin was confused. She didn’t know why she hadn’t told him about Tom. And he hadn’t seen the ring. Or was pretending he hadn’t. Why was that?

“So, you said your friend is going tomorrow to the game. How did she get the tickets?”

“Oh, it’s a he. And he is a singer. I don’t know if you know the boyband O-Town?”

“Oh, yeah. I’ve heard of it.”

“So, the band was invited and he’s coming. He called me tonight to ask me to meet him tomorrow after the game, but now that I might be coming, I don’t…”

     “Oh, you’re coming for sure.”

“You’ve talked to you’re manager already?”

“Yes, but he won’t be able to give me an answer until tomorrow. But you’re going even if I have to hide you on my bag.” he smiled. That smile could just kill you.

     “Ok.” she smiled back.

“But… you and this guy aren’t… you know?”

“Oh, no!” she answered right away. ‘Wow!’ she thought. Was she over Ashley that fast? Over the last few weeks, she couldn’t get him out of her mind and now she forgot about him that fast? And what about Tom? “You’re dangerous!” she said to Barry.

     “What? Why you say that?”

“Because you’re making me do and say things I shouldn’t be doing or saying.”

“What are you talking about?” he had a devilish grin on his face.

“Well…” she showed him her engagement ring. The drinks were starting to work on her. She let out a small laugh when she showed him the ring.

“Oh, I see…” he got closer to her ear and whispered “That’s not a problem.”

“No, it’s not!” she practically screamed.

They talked for the rest of the night until Grace showed up at her side. By that time, Kirstin was totally drunk.

“K, let’s go.” Grace knew she was drunk just by looking at her.

“I’m talking to this gorgeous guy here, see? He’s Barry! I don’t wanna go!” she pouted. Grace smiled weakly at Barry.

“But we have to. Tomorrow we’re getting up early, aren’t we?”

“Are you going to the game?” Kirstin asked. Grace nodded “I’m going too! Barry just invited me!” Kirstin sat on Barry’s lap and wrapped her arms around his neck “Isn’t he gorgeous?”

“You said that already. So, let’s go so we can get up early for the game.”

“Ok. Bye, gorgeous!” she was getting closer to his lips when Grace pulled her back.

“Bye, girls.” Barry waved at them with a big smile upon his face. Kirstin blew him a kiss and left the bar smiling, Grace dragging her out.

“Are you crazy? And give me your car keys!” Grace ordered and Kirstin obeyed as they headed to where the car was “So? Are you crazy?”

“What?” Kirstin was hardly walking straight, but she had a big smile on.

“What? What? You almost kissed that guy! Are you crazy?”

“What’s the problem? You kissed Mr. Perfect Body!”

“Yeah, but I don’t have what you have on your finger.” Grace was mad.

“Oh, this stupid ring!” she screamed when they got into the car.

     “So, it’s stupid now.”

“Yes! And it’s only a ring, not a blindfold. He was freaking gorgeous! He has it all! The eyes, the dimples, the body, the hair, the smile. Oh my God, his smile! And did you see how tall he is?” Kirstin looked at Grace “I want him!” she screamed out of the window.

“K, listen to yourself! You are getting married! Didn’t you guys book the date last week?”

     “Yeah! Stupid April 15th!”

“So? You’re getting married! You’ve already picked the place and everything. You can’t do this.”

“I’m just tired of Tom. I’m sick of him.” she laid her head back on the seat.

“Kirstin, I know that’s not true, so I won’t listen to you. Just listen to what you’re saying and you’ll realize how stupid it is.” Grace finished talking and nothing came from Kirstin. She looked at her friend and she was already sleeping. Grace just shook her head.
