Namaste everybody,
It's almost one month since we last wrote and we're still in Kathmandu. A city of our liking it seems. Acctually we just returned today, after 2 weeks in and around Pokhara.
Before we went to Pokhara we went to Kathmandu jazzfestival which was the reason we stayed in Kathmandu so long the last time. It was a true succes. The event took place at a fancy golfresort outside of Kathmandu. It was a mix of jazzbands from all around the world and also traditional Nepalese music and dancing. The best band was a norwegian band called Urban Connection I thought. It was a great atmosphere that grew the later it became. Unfortunetaly there was almost only tourists in the audience. The ticketprice was probably to high for the average Nepalese person.
After the festival we headed for Pokhara and trecking. The first week in Pokhara was lazy, lazy and our travelcompanions from the last month started dopping off. First Ishay and Noa left for India and then Oren for Tibet. A litlle sad.
Then, after alot of preparations, we and Akira, our Japanese dude, went for a long trek (was the plan). We were gonna do the Annapurna circuit on 3 weeks, but after 2 days Antes foot started hurting. we rested for 2 days in a village, but it didn't go better so we had to turn back which really sucked! The trecking life was great though and we have to do this again some other time. I think the best thing is the lack of cars. Everything in these areas has to be carried there. You can see some sherpas (porters) carry the craziest things like 30 chickens on there backs. (walking in flipflops!) The nature was beautiful ofcourse and trecking life was fun. Anyways on the way back to Pokhara we had a cooky nature experience: We had to sit on the roof of the bus since it was full. With us was a size-bigger goat-thingy with very impressive horns. Ante the animalfriend soon befriended the goat-thingy and shared a pack of noodles with it. The goat seemed grateful and even ate the wrapping. A little later the goat stood up and started peeing which would have been fine, if the goat hadn't been in front of us and the bus going in high speed. We were soaked! Back in Pokhara I had a swim in the lake which reminded me of Swedish summers....
As mentioned we're now back in Kathmandu for some yoga as mental preparation before we head back to 40 degree India and Varanasi in a couple of days!
Kisses Gaby unt Ante
