Sul'dam dress

This is the result for the dress I made. For sketches, go
here. The sketches are made from a picture I found online, I just recoloured them.
I'm coming to get you!
You can really see the a'dam in this picture, as well as the top of the dress.
The a'dam is a necklace, open ended, with a chain to close it. It had 6 fake jewels on it, but I took them off and threaded a long chain through the eyes. I had three chains connected to get a good length (2.40 m, about 8 feet). I hooked the end of the chain on a bracelet, in the same design as the necklace.
The dress is supposed to have red panels, and that would mean inset, but I like this version. It has a half-vest over the top. It's sewn to the shoulders and sides, but the front is open, and closes with hooks and eyes.
I'm not really this mean, and no, that is not a whip! The party after this contest was Fear and Fetish themed, and it really looks like I'm carrying a whip. The WoT-connaiseurs know that it's an a'dam though... it is!
This picture shows a bit of the side panels. They start at hip-height, and fall all the way down. They add to the bulk of the skirt, as I like wide skirts. I could have made the blue parts narrower, but this is much nicer.
Aaaaah, my first victim! I got a friend to pose as marath'damane, so I could collar her. She hadn't read the books, so she sort of over-reacted, the result being really funny. I was laughing as well, bit out of character... Oh well. My pet added a nice touch by crawling next to me in the end-of-show line-up and acting like a real pet :-D
The picture doesn't show much new features of the dress, but you can clearly see it's only about ankle-length, as described in the books. The boots are not that comfortable, but the only thing I had that sort of looked good.
There was an extra prize in the contest for the best Wheel of Time costume, and I won! Ok, so what if I had the ONLY WoT costume... I won a signed picture of Craig Parker. And felt good about myself the rest of the evening :-D
You can see a tiny bit of the silver lightningbolts on the side panels. They're the same as the top ones, only bigger (duh).
Oh, I wore the a'dam myself, cause it's really annoying to have to carry around a necklace all evening!
