PrefaceMy name is Eric, and I am the son of Rebecca, Daughter of Edna, Daughter of George, Son of Ulysses, Son of William, Son of Ichabod, Son of Gibeon, Son of Benjamin, Son of Thomas, Son of Jacob, Son of William, Son of Mary Bradbury. I am a Witch, and many of us claim to be descended from someone who was accused of witchcraft in Salem. But I am one of the few who is descended from one who lived. This is not my story though. This is the story of the events that transpired around the life of my tenth-great grandmother, Mary Bradbury. Although this is based nearly entirely upon historical fact, rest assured that this is a work of fiction. The names are the same, sometimes even their own words are the same, but believe that however close to the truth it may be, this is only a story. In that vein I would like to thank the Seattle Public Library, for having many of the resources I needed to help me write the story of my grandmother. My Mom, and her family, for providing the genealogical records, and the little anecdote that grew into this work. Most importantly I would like to thank the spirit of my tenth-great grandmother Mary, who lived such an amazing life. May she be blessed, wherever she may be. Let me also take a moment to pre-apologize to the families of the Putnams, Carrs, and Endicotts. Sorry. © Eric S. Riley, 2003 |
