Hi Cygnus,

Hmm... I dunno, Normy. If the kid was disassociated or disfellowshiped and was not a practicing JW minister any longer, then it seems to me Dochow did the right thing. It would seem that the kid was lying to get out the duty of serving his country, and he was rightly discovered as being a liar.

Hmm, right back at ya. It is strange to watch the kind of thinking displayed here. First of all the kid wasnt very smart when he claimed to be a witness. Did he deserve to die for that? It should of course have occurred to him to refuse the military service simply because he didnt want to kill anyone. Dont you think that should be quite a valid reason? It does however display the complete lack of concern and value for human beings which is not Jehovah's Witnesses. Unfortunately so common among Jehovah's Witnesses. When you are no longer a Witness you are already sentenced to death, so who cares what happens to you? You say that this kid was lying to get out of the duty to serve his country, what about Jehovah's Witnesses, how do they regard their duty to serve their country? We know that Jehovah's Witnesses have no problems with people getting killed, as long as they dont have to do it themselves. They long for and pray for the greatest blood bath in history, and they applaud capital punishment.

Granted, this was a stupid thing to write about in the Watchtower. Glorifying someone's untimely demise so as to exalt the ostensible benefits of membership in "God's organization" is a pretty distasteful thing to do. But, how would you feel if, say, a young Catholic man claimed to be a priest, or an integral member of his spiritual community, and when the FBI checked out his story at the parish he claimed to be serving in, he was told by the local bishop that the young man hadn't been to church in a couple of years, and even has told people that he no longer considers himself to be Catholic? Well, you see what I'm getting at. Would it have been OK for Dochow to lie in behalf of that kid, or did Dochow actually do the right thing?

Well, the Watchtower has dedicated itself to write stupid things so that doesnt surprise anyone. The Catholic church havent made refusing military service compulsory just yet, so there would be no motive for any young Catholic to come up with such a silly story. And as you know Jehovah's Witnesses are pretty creative with the truth when it comes to cover the holy organization. I am sure Dochow could have come up with something a bit more imaginative than what he did. As I said, this is a grim reminder of how worthless all non-Witnesses is to the loyal Witnesses.

Norm.
