Hi Rick!
Good to cya back!
:At least by our CO's reckoning in various talks, Armageddon can't be too far off because Jehovah has to prevent mankind from "going 'too far' scientifically." The argument went something like this, that mankind would use advanced laws of physics to have "god-like" powers over the masses, thus upsurping God's authority.
God gave man the ability to learn and use these powers. Man learns and uses these powers because God gave him the
ability to do that. God then takes away the ability to use the powers that God gave man the ability to use in the first place.
Yup. You're CO is right on the ball with his logic.
:The Tower of Babel was often used analogously to God placing an invisible "ceiling" or barrier on modern scientific efforts in achieving powers beyond man's ability to responsibly control.
If so, it was a terrible analogy. What if the tower of Babel was able to get so high that there was no oxygen and man couldn't go any higher? How would that have affected or threatened God in any way? What kind of a nit-wit human would have wanted to climb a tower like that even if it could go that high? Other than a nice view of the surroundings, there was nothing else to gain by it. And God had nothing to "lose" by it.
Tell your CO that the Farkel said he needs to come up with some better analogies, ok? :)
