When reading A.H. Macmillan's historical account in the book 'FAITH ON THE MARCH' 1957, one would naturally be inclined to trust A.H. seeing that he spent some time with brother Russell before his death and aided the Society through the rough years of turmoil following Russell's death. He was very close to Brother Rutherford and stuck with the Organization to the end of his earthly course.
Why then am I writing to the congergation today concerning A.H.'s book one might ask? One reason only, Truth,Truth,Truth, I want the Truth, so should all the Brothers & Sisters who spend countless hours, months & years dedicated to spreding it.
On pg. 106 A.H. recalls having a conversation with Brother Rutherford
regarding the place Russell held in the minds of the bible students and what was his thought on this matter, to this Rutherford said:" I want to tell you something. You made a remark yesterday that is working in my mind; about us being put
in Brother Russell's place. It might have influenced the election and then the Lord would not have had a chance to demonstrate whom he wanted in. WHY, BROTHER, IF I EVER GET OUT HERE, BY GOD'S GRACE I'LL CRUSH ALL THIS BUSINESS OF CREATURE
WORSHIP IF I HAVE TO GET KICKED OUT FOR DOING IT...(caps our mine)
Rutherford & A.H. were in prison during this conversation, see pg. 107 for their release date..
Also pg 122 says..J.F. RUTHERFORD'S interest after leaving the penitentiary was to get the Society back on its feet and to intensify the preaching work. BUT HE HAD ANOTHER PURPOSE. BEFORE HE LEFT ATLANTA HE HAD DETERMINED TO RID THE ORGANIZATION OF CREATURE WORSHIP. THIS HE SET ABOUT TO DO,..........
Ok, back on pg 107 we see that they were realesed from prison on MARCH 25, 1919.
In 1921 Rutherford's first book for the society called 'THE HARP OF GOD' printed from 1921-1940 (this 1921 ed)delt
with the topic of "OUR LORD'S RETURN" CAPTER 9. Starting on pg. 237 Rutherford writes concerning the 'FAITHFUL & WISE SERVANT' and gives us two pages about C.T. Russell & his achievments and states on pg. 239 paragraph 420 " Without a
doubt Pastor Rusell filled the office for which the Lord provided and about which he spoke, and was therefore that wise and faithful servant, ministering to the household of faith meat in due season." Now one only needs to look up
the 1928 ed. of "THE HARP OF GOD" to see that this was deleted in that ed. because this 'creature worshiping' view was no longer accepted. See the book "JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES PROCLAIMERS OF GOD'S KINGDOM" pg. 143 as it quotes the 1927
Watchtower artical concerning this re-adjusted view of C.T. Russell as 'the Faithful & wise servant of Mat 24:45.' Another interesting portrait of Rutherford's supposed view also appears in the book'JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES IN THE DIVINE
PURPOSE' 1959 pg. 69 says..." The insistence that Russell had been "that servant" led many to regard Russell in what amounted actually to creature worship.....This attitude caused Rutherford to root out any remants of creature worship that
might be left in the organization."
What is very troubling is that many of us would very much want never to question the Organization concerning these type of things, but the few of us who hold dear our reasoning abilities and love the history of the Organization must stand up and say" I want the truth" not lies or cover-ups or half truths, I know that many a Brother & sister would lose hart by such misprints by the society, but that does not make it right, nor does "let Jehovah clear this up in his own time " work either, it is time for the truth and for those who do not care about this type of thing go ahead and talk to people door to door with your polished truth from the Brothers who are supposed to be feeding you with the words from Jehovah, not some Brother who remembers only that which fits the Organization's re-adjusted history;
I welcome sincere responses and hope that the Brothers will no longer stand at the door ignorant of the history of this society, and also to not except it just because we told you so BROTHER.
