Hello ros,
you said: -
Witnesses could affect reform from within if some brave soul(s) would go to the effort to organize and bring their voices together as one. But it needs to be something like workers going on strike for higher
wages and better benefits. The only one who has even come close to anything along that line is LE with the blood issue. But there are other issues that need reform as well, like disfellowshipping and shunning for such ridiculous reasons as
disagreeing with 1914, eating lunch with a disassociated one, and denying people freedom of thought and choice.
I personally feel this is where reform should lay. The society's hold over it's members with the disfellowshipping and shunning, or threat of, is a major factor for anyone speaking out. I know many JWs, elders, MS and men and women all have feelings of discontent - but believe that Jehovah will "fix" things up. In a way, they are probably right.
My thought is this, if we believe Jehovah God is overseeing things on the earth, He then knows the situations with the religions, including the JW organisation, and in accordance with His word, will "fix" things in due time. He doesn't NEED humans to do these things, even though they have been used in times past.
If Jehovah God is NOT using the JW org. as his channel, as they claim, then why bother trying to reform. It can become a little confusing and frustrating at times.
JWs will eventually just become like the many thousands of religions dotted about the earth.
There are others too that use the shunning policy.
I also feel that many bros. & sis. are waiting for the present GB to die off - by all accounts, that cannot be too far in the future, as they are quite aged and infirm now. However, there are ones just like them but non-anointed(now known as "chieftan class") waiting in the wings to take over - could this be the reform?
I do believe many things will change, just as they have done over the past 100 years..... like the Catholic church - it may take another 400 years.
I don't have the anwer how it can be done, like you said ros, as soon as the
org. get wind of anyone disagreeing with them, they're out.
Yes, they do have it all sewn up. Sad for the ones still in there, still being mislead and lied to.
