I do understand that they were a hardy bunch, they had to be in order to do the things that they were told to do. You must understand that you cannot tell me how it was back then, I know how it was back then, based on my hearing the many stories from my father, my grandmother, and my great-grandmother, along with the stories of their many friends. You have no proof for your statement, your opinion is unfounded.
What I was saying is that JWs of that period wanted and asked for tough standards and that the Society accommodated them, nothing more. If you don�t choose to see it that way, well, don�t. But, don�t call unfounded what other people experienced firsthand. In the wake of what our German brothers endured, for a long time there was sentiment that �if they can do we can too� that was partially responsible for wanting to meet tough standards.
Let me ask you a question: If you had certain knowledge of facts that you could not readily display, would you be unfounded for believing what you knew to be true?
