I've been reading some of the mystery school material and talking with people about the various 'older religions'.
I've been struck so many times by the similarity in language and ideas between these mystical theologies and (especially) the Russell era.
Now, I know that the JW is 'inculcated' to 'flee' from these things, but in my new freedom as an agnostic/lite-athiest I'm intrieged by the popularity of these mystic ideas amongst many parts of western society, including WTS, the Star Wars saga and other bits & bobs.
I no longer associate all this with the knee-jerk 'demonism' tag of the JW. Rather, I'm seeing it a a link between todays rationalist perception of reality and whatever the bigger picture might be.
Any thoughts?
