Yes Real JW, you are correct... Word 97 and later notifies you and gives you the option to turn off the macro... The problem lies in the fact that the macro virus is emailed from someone you have contact with since it gets the email addresses from the Address book in Outlook... So it appears that you are receiving the document with the included macro from a friend and that can lull people into not disabling the macro and the infection spreads.
