My understanding of this (and other Word macro viruses) is that, if you have Word 97 or later, you are PROTECTED to some extent, because these versions will detect that there is a macro present and will ask whether you want to open the document without the macros. If you do this, the virus will not load. However, if you have an earlier version of Word, you will get no warning and will be at the mercy (none!) of the virus. The only security for Word 7.0, for example, is to download a patch (Scanprot) from the Microsoft site or to install commercial anti-virus software. I operate Word 7.0 and have had my documents infected with the "Concept" virus and also the GMVD virus. I have now installed anti-virus software!!
