That was a sincere response, chappy, and I appreciate it. Of course, I have done as you suggested, and so far have received no answer, not even from myself.

I would still question how a person could get an answer and be able to distinguish between the mind telling them what they subconsciously want to know and some external God providing the answer.

Consider that when a person is actively asking God for an answer, they want to receive one. The mind tries to give a person what they earnestly want. If the conditions are extreme enough, the mind will make up something (hallucinations, for instance) in order to satisfy the need of the person.

Since such experiences can seem absolutely real, and provide real comfort to those who seek it, it doesn't really provide any solid evidence to those of us who are skeptics.

I find all the answers in the universe within the universe. For me, there is no need for God, though he may well exist. I have no problem with their being a God, or their not being a God. Makes no difference to me. So for me, I'm just the last person a God would reach out to. I don't expect to ever get the kind of experience that you and Rahab describe. I feel no loss about it either, while also respecting your own feelings on the matter.

Thanks for trying to explain.
