You did say, It was almost two weeks later after the thought was long out of my mind and the rationalizing had stopped. . To that I would only point out that those things weren't really out of your mind. To the contrary, they were very much still on your subconscious mind as it continued to grapple with those issues. The rationalizing was going on, only without you being consciously aware of it.
