I read your post on false prophecy and I am totally confused by your take on it. What exactly do you consider false prophecy to be?
My post entitled Falsely Prophesying is not about what constitutes a false prophet it is about how God and Jesus deal with those who prophecy falsely or otherwise represent falsehood. One premise of my post was that the Society has uttered false prophecy. Assuming that, how should we deal with it? That is what my post is about.
You appear to correctly understand that the term prophet takes on different meanings depending upon how it is used in scripture. In the broad sense I feel that false prophecy can be anything that is represented as being Gods will that is false, whether that be a prediction or not. Howeverand this is not addressed in my post entitled Falsely ProphesyingI believe that Deut. 18 addresses false prophets in the sense of those who falsely predict not those who falsely or errantly represent the published word of God.
On the other hand, while Deut. 18 is part of the Law of Moses and thus its judicial judgments not incumbent upon Christians, in principle its manner of determining a false prophet is valid. My post dealt with whether or not the judicial judgment found in Deut. 18 against false prophets is the standard by which Jesus and God judge the Christian congregation and individuals therein.
