Hi Tallyman (or latest pseudonym),
I can't say I've noticed your responses about books.
Since my cover was blown by the "new system",
I reverted back to our main alter.
Oh yes, many times, I've provided links to one of
the online bookstores, and others have as well,
without any hassle.
It's the beauty of the Internet, to be able to show someone an image of a book, (which I did in my link) read comments about the book, (which I did in my link) and
show someone how they may obtain a copy. (which I did in my link)
My impression was that your comment suggested this was a great opportunity to take up - unsolicited, and something of real value.
This was/is something
of real value.
It was/is a rare opportunity for a Watchtower collector to obtain one of the real 'Elusives' of the scarce literature.
I expected to see a link with the CONTENTS of something really secret or rare - instead I saw
something advertised, the contents of which have been available on the Internet for years.
I said nothing about full contents.
You leaped before you looked.
You don't get the full contents of a book which is linked to
Amazon.Com or BarnesandNoble.Com.
You get blurbs. I provided blurbs.
I tried to heighten interest in this document.
"For Sale To Adults Only"... how'd you like that?
Create suspense, stir curiosity.
Did you notice the little
'black box' I digitally "pasted" over the name? - Kind of like the old Men's Nudie magazines did to pictures of nekkid men and women. They'd put that little black box over the eyes to hide identity.
Yeah, I'm trying, in my own way, to shake-up some interest in this secret WTliterature. Maybe a jehovah's witness on the eBay auction will win it at auction, then read the full contents, then fall out of the Truth(tm).
Gosh, wouldn't that be great?
And since you said you'd expected to see something "really rare" at the end of my link, why not bookmark it, and check in tomorrow night, after the auction ends, and see what kind of value the High Bidder attached to it.
Collectors are hot for this stuff and only want Original Documents.
And another thing, I've not seen a link to a site which has scanned the contents of this 1981 Elders Manual I have. It was the first manual (3rd) in the serie to put in the stiff warning (which I also had up for all to see) so that the 'paper trail' would be stopped.
If this became a regular feature of the board, I think it would detract from it.
Are you really afraid that's going to happen?
Weren't you being a tad
reactionary?
However, that said, I think posting links to places where books can be got in response to people's requests, or even
information about it would be fine from my perspective.
Right. It ain't never been a
problem before.
Why "fix something that ain't broke"?
Even a post which said: "A copy of the Flock Book is being advertised here ..." wouldn't have affronted me.
I told you. No true collector would want a
"copy".
It was the comment in your post which solicited, not the link itself as I pointed out earlier.
I suggest you widen your interpretation of 'solicitation'.
I was affronted because I felt deceived, and felt that I was being solicited to buy it.
I still can't understand your use of the severe word, 'affront'.
And 'jumping to conclusions' does NOT equate to being 'deceived'.
And I don't think you fully understand the concept of
the auction process.
(I'm rambling).
But if "Hard-Core Door-Banging JW" was a description of me, you don't know me well (smile).
Maybe I should have said "Former"...
Cheers,
Andrew.
Right back at
ya, hoss.
