This elderly man would no doubt be a true Christian in my estimation. Surely there is no point in disappointing him at this stage of his life. You are not deceiving anyone by not confessing all. From what you say, he truly was a "good Samaritan" and more. The important thing is for you to let him know that you love him and appreciate all that he did for you.
