Just an update on the story of the boy in Saskatchewan, Canada who was diagnosed with bone cancer.
For those who haven't been following this story, there is a young lad who was diagnosed with bone cancer and his family has denied him
conventional treatment on religious grounds. Children's Aid had stepped in and got the courts to order treatment for the boy. However, the Dueck's launched an appeal, effectively putting this treatment on hold. During the last three weeks
while all this legal wrangling has gone on, the cancer has spread to the boy's lungs. The doctors say that it is now too late, and that conventional treatment will no longer be effective.
In an interview on television this morning, the
Dueck's lawyer was asked if the last three weeks of legal wrangling has been time time wasted. He answered that the family's view is that this all started "in the lap of God and will end in the lap of God" and that this legal wrangling is
part of the "Divine plan".
It seems most likely that this poor child will die soon, another victim of religious dictates imposed on him by misguided and misled 'Christians'.
