Hello All,
I'm rather busy with life and don't have much time for reading posts, as of late. But if I have something deemed of interest I will post it.
In my spare time, I'm reading lots about the Early Church and what manuscripts/writings we have from that period. Anyhow, I checked out this book from the library "Documents of the Christian Church" by Henry Bettenson.
Among one of the manuscripts that attracted my attention ws Justin's Apology. Many times the WTBTS will quote some Early Church Fathers for supporting certain beliefs common with the Society.
Here's an excerpt (NOT taken out of context) from Justin's "Apology" II,xiii :
"Whatever has been uttered aright by any men in any place belongs to us Christians; for, next to God, we worship and love the reason (Word) which is from the unbegotten and ineffable God; since on our account He has been made man, that, being made partaker of our sufferings, he may also bring us healing."
What do you think about the phrase "for, next to God, we WORSHIP and LOVE the reason (Word) [the Christ] ?"
I don't want to back up the theory of Trinity, but this statement goes against what the WTBTS asserts about the beliefs of the Early Church Fathers in the Trinity brochure. Don't you agree?
Truly yours,
RomGabe
