There is a similair story to this in "How to Win Friends And Influence People". It talks about how much happier we are if we don't expect anything from others. It talks about how much more lovable we are if we don't expect gratitude and we don't make demands on people. Yours was a real experience that involved someone rich and someone poor. But money has nothing to do with it. We can all learn from your story Julie.
My reality of Rick's post was that he's dwelling far too much of the negative - but maybe I'm at fault for ignoring the negative.
