One JWs board I joined years ago, a dialup PC run out of JW's home, removed posts with good questions for "a very good reason." That reason, not posted openly but told to those thought to be "spiritually mature," went something like this: Some questions are 'too good' in that JWs cannot answer them, or the answer would 'show up faults or falsehood in the organization." I was also told that even though Jehovah doesn't allow other religions to make mistakes or teach falsehoods, he allows "spiritual Israel" to make mistakes and teach falsehoods because he chose them. Therefore, the reasoning goes, "Jehovah is bound to support the Society even in a worse case scenario where 100% of their teachings are wrong." I couldn't believe it, and wish I had saved that email from the moderator. The moderator also said that is why it's important to (paraphrasing from memory) "verify the status of any JW; if a JW in good standing exposes error in the organization it is easier to track them down and silence them through their body of elders. Questions are equally serious because a very good question can expose errors simply by uncovering an area nobody was paying attention to. Questions need to get removed unless the answer reflects favorably on the organization."
Was this moderator reflective of the average JW, does anyone think? I'm a JW, and believe this moderator doesn't belong in the organization. Thoughts from you, Julie, or anyone?
