We Catholics have "confessionals" and
"reconciliation rooms," (those of us who USE
them).
JWs have "JUDICIAL Committees" for someone who
fails. The very choice of names indicates the difference in approach.
I'll never
forget when I had problems and went to the elders. One out of the three tried to be a decent person and understanding.
The other two behaved in a way that I can only rightfully consider destructive and outrageously self-righteous. No
effort really to reclaim the erring, just griping that they had been dragged away from their oh-so-important lives to have to listen to me describe my falls.
These guys have no clue what it means to be a shepherd. They're just
rule-the-roost big daddys
following their little rule-book.
