I'm not quite ready to give up on flight as the most significant event of the century. What flight symbolized was much greater than the sum of the technology behind the achievement. Rather than saying "If God had meant for us to fly, he would have given us wings", we gave ourselves wings. I don't think the computer can compete in this way.
