There have been some beautifully satirical posts during the 12 months
or so of my experience with
H2O. Of recent days a moderator may be
inclined to delete them because they might breach the FPP.
Surely satire like ftp://www.hourglass2.org/pub/user/h2o/wwwboard/messages/deleted/133791.deleted.m14.html
provokes thoughtful consideration, challenges
prejudiced thinking,
and highlights irony that might otherwise escape us, and is worthy of our
consideration. If some of us are too conceited to laugh at ourselves
from time to time (and as I fundy I have found my cherished
beliefs the
subject of satirically searching posts on H2O more than once), we should
go back to the KH. Indeed, reasonable use of satire has been apparent
from most perspectives appearing on H2O.
Sure, good satire is
difficult, but satire should be a tool of argumentation
that is at our collective disposal on H2O.
Thanks,
Andrew.
PS - aussies would call it taking the micky of them (I'm not sure
it translates)
