Shadrach,
I am a bit confused about the same thing. I think it is a bit dangerous for anyone to say for instance, "I wasn't doing so good on the rodeo circuit until I came to the Lord." We have to realize that God sends rain on the
just and the unjust. After all, Job was"perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil" and look what happened to him.
The whole chapter of 1 Corinthians 13 deals with topics like what you brought up. In verse 10 it
says "But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away." My understanding would be that when the written word came along, there was no need for preachers to "prove" themselves as being from God.
It
is just like in these times, if a man comes to your door wearing a police uniform for instance, and flashing a badge, he may or he may not be a real police officer. I would get his name and his badge number and call my local law
inforcement to verify anything about the "copwannabe".
I personally think allot of people think that the relationship they are suppose to have is the one they see on TV. When they don't have it that way they begin to doubt the
bible, and what they read, and find it easier just to turn away.
Have you ever done research on the types of healings done at these large meetings? You should, that will shed some light on the matter.
