SS
You and Tantalus both refer to the 'comfort blanket' of paradise earth for the elderly. A sudden demise of the WTS would be very difficult for these elderly people and to find another religion with similar beliefs isn't that easy is
it? Yes, I feel sorry for those people.
I agree with SS that reform is the practical option. I don't understand why it hasn't happened yet. I don't see the WT as sitting all that pretty. Consider what it is up against....
....The
number of DF is constantly growing and now are banding together to form support groups to lessen the blow of the 'punishment.' Non-JW are becoming educated concerning the WT ways and are becoming active in opposing the WTS. I would think
it is safe to say there are more people actively opposing the WTS than are promoting it.
....As I see it the WT has to control the information taken in by members. With the internet and outside forces this must be getting more
difficult.
...The WTS seems to have made it's success in the spectacular doomsday type prophesies. It would appear that is no longer an option. One more failed prediction would wipe them out.
Somehow I see this whole mess being tied
to money. I have no idea how, but somehow it all smells of profit directed. What happens as declining participation draws them to the loss situation?
When all this is thought through it sure seems that reform is not only the practical
solution, but also the necessary thing for survival.
That's what it looks like from the outside anyway.
Take care,
