Crystal's Review of What Brian Has to Say About Punk
When I first read Brian's pages on Pop Punk/Emo music, I was pretty excited because I too am a big fan of bands like Greenday and Blink 182. Brian's pages on this particular genre do a good job in presenting the reader with 3 very different ways of approaching this type of music, and what some common ideas about it are.
The first section of Brian's collaborative, his point of view, does a good job in relaying to everyone why exactly him and his friends love punk music, and how they don't give a damn if you don't. There are lots of useful links to pages by punk artists, and where to find punk clothes. It made me have a deeper appreciation and understanding of Punk Pop/Emo.
The second section is how Brian's father feels about punk music, and his love of the ever wonderful Doobie brothers. This section is effective in relaying how his dad, and many other dads who are forced to listen to this "crap" feel.
The third section, the "hardcore punk" point of view I think is a good mixture of Brian and his father's views. Mr. Hardcore Punk Neighbor listens to punk a lot, but hates the "MTV punks," and tries to get Brian to listen to other punk bands. This section has a lot of showing and brings up a good view point that some people, like me, might not have thought of otherwise.
Overall Brian's pages are very organized, fun to read, and well connected to each other, with additional links to outside information. I did feel however, that Brian could have bolded key words in the text in addition to the first word of each new paragraph.

In a project for English 110, Brian Misfeldt shares his view, his
father's view, and the neighbor's view on punk music, and bands like Blink 182,
and Jimmy Eat World, The Doobie Brothers, and NOFX.
My Personal Rambling on Punk
On occasion, my own father has also
yelled out from another room of the house for me to "turn that shit
down." (Sarcastic): Because as EVERYONE knows, if it is not Country
or Classic Rock, then it is in fact shit. Although I do like punk a lot,
I, unlike Brian, am very far from being "punk." I guess
that I would fall under the category of "14 year old girls that know Blink,
but if listened to any of their old stuff would hate it." Is it really a
bad thing that these bands have "sold out" to MTV? If they
hadn't, I probably would have never heard any of their great music, especially
one of my favorite songs: "Time of Your Life" by Greenday.
(Wait, isn't that one of their older songs?) :)
