| Atmospheric transportation of pesticide residue is an area that is only recently being acknowledged. Spray drift for example. We now know that atmospheric transportation is resulting in a global deposition of pesticide residues in every single ecosystem in the world. Diluted solutions of these chemical cocktails touch our world and everywhere they have the ability to create havoc with natures own organic integrity. The same industry who make the drugs to aid cancer are the same industry who make the toxic chemicals that are marketed as needed for agriculture.....healthy crops, house hold cleaners, weed and bug killers.....both are billion if not trillion dollar industries......is there a connection ? Researchers have identified around 50 different pesticides that disrupt our endocrine system (charkras if your new agey). Including 209 compounds classified as PCBs 75 dioxins and 135 Furans with plenty more yet to be tested. Researchers have also discovered that as litle as a few parts per trillion is all that is needed.....for instance Monkeys exposed to continuous low levels of dioxin have developed endometriosis.....a rising and common disease in women ! Testing is done on animals, usually rates and mice, but sometimes rabbits and monkeys. No long term effect tests are carried out because mice and rats dont have long enough life spans. These creatures are given high dosages of chemicals to see the effect, which is usually nerve damage, immune system, and foetal damage occur along with the inevitable cancers. The dosage is then TONED down to an acceptable level.....toxicologists use the dose of a particular substance that will kill an animal to establish a safe dose for humans to consume. Usually a safety factor of 100 is applied. This figure is arrived at by assuming that humans are 10 times more sensitive than a test animal. Its all a stab in the dark really, yet this is how they determine what is an acceptable daily intake for us (ADI ). However, this ADI is based on some mythical 40 year old male. This does not include women nor children. There is also what is termed in some countries as a MRL which is Maximum Residue Levels....meaning there is a limit to how much chemical residue from sprays etc can actually be in our food. However this indicator is based not on any health critera, but on how much spray is expected to be in the food, based on how much pesticide the manufacturers have determined is necessary to kill particular pests! |

| And now the Genetic enginerring of our food is a well established industry. But really how many of us actually know what it is ....ok so they put genes from other species into our food, and that may not be good for us. For a start let us go back to the begining. Its all about toxic spraying. Agricultural practises are founded upon spraying toxic chemicals to maintain crops, bugs, weeds etc. The industry leader who first claimed that GE would be fantastic for the human race was Monsanto. Monsanto makes roundup a popular toxic chemical cocktail for both industry and the home gardner. In our ingnorance we have bought the stuff and tipped it on our gardens in droves. Monsanto in their wisdom decided that with all the fuss about chemical residues in the food, that they would simply put the active ingredent of roundup directly into the food via genetic manipulation...this they said would cut down the need to spray such toxic chemicals. Well that sounds reasonable does it not ? But wait a minute.....the active ingredient in roundup is Glysophate which is known to be extremley toxic to animals and humans, It is known to effect the enzyme systems in both including reproduction damage. Stunningly enough there have never been any tests on Glysophates carcinogenic properties...so anyway this chemical compound is now in our food..as well as being sprayed on our foods... It is up to all us to ensure a healthy diet for selves and families, that we do not, speaks volumes. All of us have choices in what we spend our consumer dollars on. All of us have a power, perhaps the only power where we can effect change....stop supporting industry that is chemically poisoning not just the earth, but you and your family...it can be done with no fanfare, no blazing trumpets...just you quietly choosing to spend your hard earned dollars on something much more ethical and life affirming....it may however cost you a few $ more, but then what price health ? |

| Why buy organic ? There are many reasons. Firstly because it is grown without chemicals Secondly it retains the essential nurtrients our bodies need. Thridly....It tastes better. Hard to believe ? An Organic meal will not make you feel hungry hrs afterwoods, it has a vital life force that you can taste. Because your body is now getting the food that Mother Nature has grown as opposed to chemical farming, you will begin to feel better within yourself.
